CTG is seeking to fill a Software Engineer II opening for our client in Buffalo, NY.

**Duration:** 12 months

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer II to support a new middleware application facilitating data exchange with a SaaS-hosted solution. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining applications and databases, with a focus on Azure SQL and associated services. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving abilities, and experience guiding less experienced team members.

Primary Responsibilities:

+ Design, develop, and maintain robust software solutions using Azure SQL and other Microsoft technologies

+ Serve as a lead application designer for major enhancements or modifications

+ Analyze complex systems and interdependencies to identify opportunities for optimization

+ Collaborate with development, operations, and QA teams to ensure cohesive delivery

+ Prepare and execute detailed test plans and debugging processes

+ Author and review technical and functional specifications and documentation

+ Mentor and coordinate tasks for junior engineers on projects of varying scope

+ Recommend and evaluate new technologies or tools to improve development practices

+ Ensure compliance with regulatory and risk standards throughout project lifecycle

+ Contribute to budget planning and tracking, if applicable

+ Promote diversity, inclusion, and alignment with corporate values

Scope of Responsibilities:

This role operates under the supervision of a Technology Team Lead and works independently on high-level systems design and implementation. The Software Engineer II may lead project teams and evaluate performance relative to objectives. This position requires collaboration with senior management, cross-functional teams, and external vendors.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

+ May lead small project teams and assign tasks to junior staff

+ Provides mentoring and technical guidance to team members

+ May represent the technical team on cross-functional committees or special projects

Education and Experience Required:

+ Associate’s degree with a minimum of 5 years in systems analysis/application development, or

+ In lieu of a degree, at least 7 years combined education and relevant experience

+ Proficiency in Azure SQL Database, including T-SQL, stored procedures, schema design, Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), and Azure AD Authentication

+ Knowledge of Azure Networking, Managed Identities, and security best practices

+ Experience with database design, data modeling, performance tuning, query optimization, and backup/restore

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

+ Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

+ Experience with project coordination and cross-functional collaboration

Education and Experience Preferred:

+ Familiarity with the Bank’s application framework

+ Advanced knowledge of business systems and related integrated applications

+ Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects beyond standard business-as-usual

+ Action-oriented with a proactive mindset

+ Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
