    GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    The primary responsibility of the Product and Market Research Specialist is to provide operational support of business and administrative functions in the Product and Research unit through interaction with Lottery Headquarter staff, district staff and Lottery retailers. The Product and Market Research Specialist will provide administrative support including writing requisitions, communications, reporting, tracking, routing approvals, training, and other assigned duties.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    + Each employee is expected to be knowledgeable of the Lottery’s Responsible Gaming program, including the No Underage Play and Play Within Your Means messaging, and will ensure retailers and players are aware of the program and provided information, as necessary.

    + Assists in the reporting and analysis that provides clear and actionable insights in the areas of sales, research, product management and promotions.

    + Supports the development of annual plans for product research, attends focus groups and participates in other research activities.

    + Works with the Product and Research team on the coordination of tasks and assignments.

    + Performs data input activities involving the creation and maintenance of spreadsheets, and other reporting and tracking methods.

    + Provides various kinds of information (generally historical product, research, and sales data) on an on-going basis to vendors, lottery industry organizations and publications, and to different areas within the Lottery upon request (typically Marketing, Sales, Communications, Finance).

    + Responsible for assisting in maintaining accurate Product, Research and Sales database(s) in various business applications. Works with other divisions and/or vendors, making recommendations for improvement to databases and automated processes.

    + Assists with the formatting, proofing, completion of correspondence, reports and/or other documents.

    + Maintains timely and effective communications with staff relative to lottery product launches, research and sales activities, promotions, new programs and other marketing events.

    + Ensures projects, requisitions, communications reporting, etc. are completed in a timely fashion.

    + Assists in budget planning, invoice payment and spending coordination from the division's budget, instant ticket vendor support fund, and other sources when applicable.

    + Researches and collects pertinent information to assist with drafting policies, procedures, contracts, terms and conditions, audit responses, responses to public records requests, training materials, and other information as requested or directed.

    + Attends training sessions, schools or seminars to improve knowledge of area of responsibilies.

    + Performs other related work as required to ensure smooth functioning of the section, division or unit.

    + Maintains productive relationships with Florida Lottery staff to ensure proper information flow on all projects.

    + Attendance is an essential function of the position.

    + This position may require occasional travel.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    + Knowledge of Policy and Procedures relating to the division as well as, Marketing and Sales Events, Merchandise Inventory, Point of Sale, Uniforms, and Dispensers

    + Knowledge of policies and procedures

    + Knowledge of Product, Research and Sales

    + Knowledge of principles and techniques of effective communication

    + Knowledge of a variety of computer software programs

    + Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data relating to administrative functions

    + Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports

    + Abitlity to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures

    + Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques and make decisions

    + Ability to communicate effectively

    + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

    + Ability to manage information of a confidential nature

     

    Other job-related requirements for this position

     

    High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

     

    Successful passing of a criminal background check (state, local, and national) is required .

     

    Maintains strict confidentiality of information learned while working with the Florida Lottery, whether learned through assigned duties or through working with other units. The types of confidential information may include, but are not limited to, payroll information, budget matters, policy decisions, tax matters, employee disciplinary issues, and other personnel data.
