    TA Lead Global Congress Operations, Senior Manager

     

    What you will do

Amgen is seeking a highly qualified and driven **TA Lead Global Congress Operations, Senior Manager** to lead the planning, execution, and management of prioritized congresses within a centralized congress team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of Amgen’s congress strategy, fostering collaboration across cross functional brand teams, and delivering impactful congress experiences that align with organizational goals.

    Strategic Leadership

    + Lead the planning and execution of prioritized congresses in collaboration with cross-functional teams and congress vendors, ensuring alignment with Amgen's business priorities and therapeutic area strategies

    + Understand and implement Amgen’s comprehensive global congress operations framework and chip in to the optimization of processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness

    + Serve as the central point of contact for prioritized congress-related planning, communication, and decision-making across regions and therapeutic teams

    Project and Event Management

    + Oversee end-to-end congress operations, including venue selection, booth design, other sponsorship activities logistics, and post-event analysis and evaluation

    + Partner with our strategic congress vendors to ensure high-quality results and adherence to process, timelines and budgets

    + Ensure timely progress reports, identify and handle risks and issues, and be able to develop contingency plans in scope as the business needs change

    + Find opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance Congress efficiency and effectiveness

    + Handle congress budgets, ensuring cost control and financial discipline and alignment with organizational objectives including the generation of SOW’s, PO’s and Invoice approvals

    + Ensure all congress activities align with relevant internal regulations, policies, procedures and medical association / society standards

    + Ensure that vendors are managing budgets and submission timelines for the approval of booth design, messaging, materials and activities

    Team Collaboration

    + Partner with medical, commercial, corporate affairs teams and cross functional partners as needed to align congress goals with broader business objectives

    + Work closely with regional teams to adapt global congress strategies to meet local needs while maintaining consistency and quality

    + Participate in and support onsite Congress execution as necessary

    + Cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the global congress team

    Performance Measurement

    + Ensure key performance indicators (KPIs) are reported to business stakeholders in evaluating the success of congresses, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement

    + Regularly report on congress outcomes, including attendee engagement, customer feedback, and business impact

    **Travel Requirements:** 25% for domestic and international travel

    Basic Qualifications:

    Doctorate degree and 2 years of experience in congress management and/or operations, business administration, life sciences, marketing, or a related field

    OR

    Master’s degree and 4 years of congress management and/or operations, business administration, life sciences, marketing, or a related field

    OR

    Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of congress management and/or operations, business administration, life sciences, marketing, or a related field

    OR

    Associate’s degree and 10 years of congress management and/or operations, business administration, life sciences, marketing, or a related field

    OR

    High school diploma / GED and 12 years of congress management and/or operations, business administration, life sciences, marketing, or a related field

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) or relevant certifications (e.g., CMP, CEM)

    + Congress expereince in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industries

    + Demonstrated experience managing global congresses in a matrixed organization

    + Strong understanding of biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry trends, compliance regulations, and customer needs

    + Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders

    + Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

    + Proficiency in project management tools and technologies

    The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
