We've provided professional consulting services to more than 700 organizations in the last year alone. We work in all areas of management consulting including finance, assessment, communications, technology, executive recruitment, and strategic planning.

We're proud to share that Raftelis has been certified as a Great Place to Work®! 93% of our employees say it is a great place to work, compared to 57% of employees at a typical US-based company. As one of our employees said, “at Raftelis, we maintain a great balance between hard work and allowing staff to focus on their lives outside of work. We also have a strong culture where people genuinely care about each other, and leadership is committed to doing what's best for both our employees and the firm”.

    Job Summary:

Raftelis is searching for a new Associate Consultant to join our Organizational Excellence Strategic Planning and Facilitation Practice. This role will support strategic planning projects for local government and utility clients, contributing to the coordination and delivery of planning efforts that help organizations define long-term goals and align around a shared vision. You'll assist with the development of presentation materials, provide support for engagement activities such as surveys and focus groups, help document key themes from planning sessions, and ensure smooth execution of both in-person and virtual meetings.

We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and proactive—someone who enjoys supporting a team and contributing to meaningful, community-focused work. You'll collaborate with consultants and senior staff across a variety of projects in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. This role offers a strong foundation for growing in the field of strategic planning while making a tangible impact on public sector organizations.

This role is great for an individual at the beginning of their career who's eager to grow in strategic planning, is inspired by public service, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys helping organizations chart their future direction.

    What you will be doing:

+ Support the execution of strategic planning projects for local government and utility clients, helping ensure smooth coordination and successful outcomes.

+ Assist in collecting and analyzing data to support environmental scans, SWOT analyses, and strategic assessments that inform planning initiatives.

+ Contribute to the development of strategic plans, including writing, formatting, and tailoring deliverables for internal and external audiences.

+ Prepare and organize materials for strategic planning sessions, including building PowerPoint decks, creating planning workbooks, and developing facilitation materials.

+ Provide logistical support for strategic planning retreats and visioning workshops, ensuring seamless delivery of in-person and virtual engagements.

+ Collaborating with consultants and senior team members on various projects, learning from industry leaders in organizational, financial, technology, and management consulting.

    You have:

+ A Bachelor's degree in public administration, business, public policy, or a related field

+ Ability to work within a small team that may be spread across a broad geography

+ A constant drive to be better and know there is always something new to learn

+ A desire to work hard, perform at a high level, and be compensated appropriately for it

+ A willingness to travel overnight (up to 25%) with occasional weekend travel

+ Very strong written and verbal communication skills

It would be great if you had:

+ Prior work experience in local government or utilities

Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they can perform every job description task. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may come from a less traditional background. We will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications. If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to think broadly about your background and skill set for the role.

    Rewards:

Working for a values-based organization focused on growth with an exceptional reputation in its industry, employees receive competitive compensation and excellent benefits that include:

+ 100% company-paid medical (50% paid dependent medical) and dental benefits

+ Health Savings Account with company contributions

+ Medical and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts

    + Vision Insurance

+ Company paid Life and Disability Insurance and Employee Assistance Program

+ Discretionary paid time off program and education reimbursement program

    + 401(k) with company contributions

    + Long-term care benefits

    + Pet insurance

+ Hybrid work schedule (three days in the office and two days remote)

The salary range for the Associate Consultant position is $70k to $85k. Compensation depends on education, experience, and location.
