Job Description
Purpose:
The Senior Principal Research Scientist/Director of Drug Metabolism and Disposition (Biotransformation) will lead the biotransformation activities within the Drug Metabolism and Disposition department. This role aims to provide strategic direction, ensure high-quality data, and support the advancement of drug discovery and development through expert understanding of drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and biotransformation processes.
Responsibilities:
+ Lead a team of scientists in designing and executing biotransformation studies, including both nonclinical and clinical studies.
+ Develop and implement strategic plans for drug metabolism and biotransformation to support drug discovery and development projects.
+ Serve as a subject matter expert to cross-functional teams, integrating in vitro and in vivo data for the understanding of absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion (ADME), and pharmacokinetics.
+ Ensure regulatory compliance for all studies and reports, providing oversight of radiolabeled and non-radiolabeled studies.
+ Communicate findings and strategies clearly to project teams and management, both orally and through written reports.
+ Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of study data.
+ Mentor and supervise junior scientists and laboratory staff, fostering an inclusive and empowering work environment.
+ Contribute to scientific knowledge through conference presentations and publication of new research findings.
+ Develop and maintain a research budget in alignment with organizational goals.
+ Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in drug metabolism and biotransformation methodologies.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Science with 18 years of related work; Master’s Degree Science or PharmD with 16 years of related work; PhD in Science or related field with 10 years of related work experience in drug metabolism and biotransformation.
+ Demonstrated expertise in metabolite identification and ADME studies from discovery through IND/NDA submissions and regulatory interactions.
+ Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
+ Experience with regulatory requirements for drug development.
+ Deep understanding of ADME and PK/PD science, experience with both small molecules and biologics.
+ Strong fundamental understanding of mass spectrometry and its strategic use for metabolite profiling and structural determination.
+ Proficient in the use of advanced analytical techniques such as MS-Imaging and NMR
+ Knowledge of developing role-based training plans and maintaining scientific rigor in training methodologies.
+ Experience managing and mentoring teams within a dynamic research environment.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
