    Job Description

    The Operations Director will provide leadership to execute the technology strategies that support the vision and goals of the Enterprise Product Incubator for Capabilities. This role will have impact and influence within the EPIC team and across all of the AbbVie business technology organizations. The role will help to build a collaborative partnership with technology and functional domain stakeholders while shepherding the delivery of comprehensive technology solutions that address prioritized business problems and innovation needs.

    Responsibilities

    + Directly interacts with R&D Executive VPs and their VP/Sr Director staff members to help develop and execute product strategy. Adapts and executes domain strategic plans.

    + Champions changes that have significant, enterprise-wide impact to improve processes and/or technologies.

    + Makes key decision that are guided by established strategies and priorities. Influences operating policies and procedures that affect and ensure the efficient delivery of enterprise products and solutions. Interprets enterprise-wide policies, processes and procedures that may affect teams and domain workflow.

    + Manages a team(s) of product managers who have significant latitude and autonomy in their assignments.

    + Accountable for delivering a technology portfolio of 10-20 enterprise products that integrate with a 3-5 year technology product roadmap.

    + Works with leadership to define and secure resource needs across domain, effectively scales work using third-party resources.

    + Builds collaborative relationships and effectively interacts frequently with business and/or technology senior leaders. Interactions focus on product and operational decisions. Interacts well with diverse groups within function and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.

    + Consistently demonstrates Abbvie's Ways of Working and Leadership Attributes including an enterprise mindset and people leadership. Effectively manages performance, provides timely feedback, appropriately rewards and recognizes valuable achievement, develops talent, and creates a succession pipeline. Understands and executes AbbVie's vision, goals, and strategies. Accountable for the performance and results for strategically important functions.

    + Effectively connects employee and BTS functional goals to business and/or overall Abbvie goals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to drive outstanding employee performance and engagement through developing, coaching, motivating, energizing, and inspiring team members.

    + Experience managing teams of 10+ people with a resource mix of managers, employees, matrixed teams, virtual teams, contractors, and managed service providers.

    + Ability to communicate problems in terms that are understandable to BTS Leadership and end users at all levels.

    + Well versed in the subject matter of their technology and/or business domain.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years of experience, Masters degree with 9+ years of experience, or PhD with 5+ years of experience.

    + Work experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.

    + Technical background in healthcare, laboratory diagnostics, medical devices or pharmaceutical companies.

    + Proven ability to innovate with a history of new or improved technology solutions with remarkable impact on company productivity.

    + Interacts well with diverse groups within function and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.

    + Demonstrated ability to drive execution of technology projects and development of technology products.

    + The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​

    + We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.​

    + This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​
