    BPS TEACHER PIPELINE PROGRAMS

    Boston Public Schools (BPS) is seeking a mission-driven, strategic, and highly collaborative Educator Pathways Program Manager to design, pilot, and scale an innovative district-wide educator development model. This role will lead efforts to build a sustainable and inclusive pathway for aspiring educators, starting with a 3-school pilot and growing to include schools across the district.

     

    The ideal candidate brings experience in program design, cross-sector partnership development (especially with higher education), and a deep understanding of how to create career-connected learning experiences that center on equity, access, and bilingual and inclusive education.

     

    This role will also contribute to communications and engagement strategies to ensure that all stakeholders, including educators, schools, higher education partners, and families, understand and support the vision.

     

    GEORGE B. COX FELLOWSHIP OVERVIEW

     

    The George B. Cox Equity in Urban Education Fellowship (EUEF) was named in honor of a beloved educator, leader, writer, mentor, and advocate for Boston’s children and families. In memory, his college-mate, Charles Yancey, who later served as a Boston City Councilor, remembered George Cox as “a dedicated warrior for human rights, high-quality integrated education, diversity, and justice. He fought against racism, sexism, intolerance, and discrimination. He was strategic in his approach, and he was a strong mentor to many young people in our country. To learn more about George B.     The George B. Cox Fellowships are designed to develop recent graduates and early-career professionals into leaders in their fields and communities. This is a two-year, full-time program specifically designed to prepare future leaders by immersing them in teams committed to designing, delivering, and evaluating strategic, innovative solutions to complex challenges in urban educational equity. Preference will be given to BPS alums and/or Boston residents who participated in the METCO program.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The George B. Cox Fellow - Educator Pathways Program Manager plays a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and sustaining education career pathways for high school students aspiring to become future educators. This dynamic position is responsible for creating a seamless, enriching experience that bridges secondary education with post-secondary preparation, industry engagement, and career readiness. The coordinator will partner with students, educators, school leaders, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to cultivate a strong, diverse teacher pipeline.

    Key Responsibilities Design & Launch an Educator Apprenticeship/Pathway Program

    + Lead the development of a BPS-wide educator pathway model, in collaboration with internal leaders and external partners.

    + Start with a 3-school pilot, identifying participating schools and site leads, coordinating logistics, and co-developing implementation plans.

    + Work with partner school liaisons to design school-based experiences that support aspiring educators, including observation, hands-on practice, and mentorship.

    + Collaborate with colleagues and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment with district strategic goals and integration with other talent initiatives.

    + Develop systems and structures to support high-quality mentorship, including mentor recruitment, training, and ongoing support.

    Research, Benchmarking & Partnership Development

    + Conduct research and national benchmarking of existing educator pathways and apprenticeship models; synthesize findings into actionable recommendations.

    + Identify and pursue partnership opportunities with higher education institutions to support credit-bearing coursework, credentials, and future degree and licensure opportunities.

    + Engage other BPS schools to join the pathway effort over time; develop a strategy for scaling the model with flexibility for site-level adaptation.

    Stakeholder Communication & Engagement

    + Support the creation of clear, accessible communication materials that explain the pathway model to internal stakeholders (educators, school leaders) and external partners (higher ed, funders).

     

    Develop presentations, updates, and other engagement tools to maintain transparency and excitement as the program grows.

     

    + Coordinate with the district Communications team on press releases, success stories, and public updates.

    Program Operations & Continuous Improvement

    + Track pilot implementation and collect feedback from schools, mentors, and participants to guide ongoing program improvement.

    + Maintain systems to monitor participation, mentor-mentee engagement, and program outcomes.

    + Develop reports and visualizations to communicate progress to district leaders, funders, and partners.

    QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Administration, Human Development, or a related field

    + Experience designing or managing programs in K–12 education or youth development

    + Familiarity with or interest in apprenticeship/pathway models, teacher preparation, or workforce development

    + Ability to build relationships and coordinate across multiple stakeholders, including schools, central office departments, and higher ed institutions

    + Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and drive progress toward ambitious goals

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills

    + Commitment to equity, culturally and linguistically sustaining practices, and expanding opportunity in public education

    + Possesses a growth mindset, actively seeks and uses feedback to improve performance

    + Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment

    QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED:

    + Master’s Degree in the field of education, business or related field

    + Wiki space, management experience

    + Knowledge of or experience with grant administration

    + Experience in office coordination in a large organization

    + Experience working in or with schools/districts

    + Bilingual or multilingual
