The Minnesota Board of Cosmetologist Examiners (Board) is dedicated to protecting the health and safety of Minnesota citizens and visitors by regulating the practice of cosmetology. The Board is comprised of seven board members representing each cosmetology license type and the public. Board staff is comprised of five divisions and approximately 25 employees. The Board oversees more than 33,000 practitioners, 5,300 salons, and 35 schools across the state.
The Board of Cosmetologist Examiners Investigators address compliance issues for licensees who may be in violation of Minnesota Statutes 155A and/or Minnesota Rules 2105 and 2110. This position will be conducting investigations from initial intake to completion of the case. This includes collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing findings in a written report. This position presents case findings to the Complaint Committee Members and coordinates follow-up of committee decisions to licensees. The incumbent will also respond to compliance situations and questions from members of the public regarding licensees and registrants of the Board of Cosmetologist Examiners.
This position may require limited in-state travel for training or investigative purposes as needed.
This position is eligible for a hybrid telework arrangement. With a telework arrangement, onsite attendance will be required for team members or as requested by management to meet business needs. Minimum Qualifications
To facilitate proper crediting, your resume must clearly describe your experience and skills in the areas listed below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year of each job held.
+ One year of work experience in the following: investigation, regulatory compliance, credentialing, complaint/document review, quality assurance, or a related field.
Experience must demonstrate the following:
+ Knowledge of investigative methodologies and investigative techniques
+ Ability to effectively interview and summarize findings
+ Experience managing a large caseload in various stages of the process (or related work)
+ Experience providing and presenting findings or analysis work to others
Preferred Qualifications
+ Associate degree or higher in criminal justice or related field
+ Working knowledge of Minnesota state laws, regulations, statutes and rules
+ Experience working with individuals who may not be cooperative or receptive
+ Experience promoting an inclusive work environment and culture through respect, while ensuring a collaborative workplace that values diversity
Physical Requirements
+ Occasional lifting up to 10 lbs
+ Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time
+ Ability to carry small items such as laptop computer or document files
