A Glimpse of the Job
The Financial Accountant I performs entry-level professional accounting.
Job Responsibilities
+ Research and Analysis - Identifies, investigates, and resolves outstanding reconciling items through journal entries, meetings, correspondence, identifying corrections, and following-up. Audits accounting and financial documents for accuracy and completeness.
+ Reconciliations - Prepares and analyzes reconciliations for TDEM general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and state bank accounts.
+ Data Entry - Records journal entries into FAMIS and USAS.

Required Education:
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education:
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Preferred Experience:
+ Accounting experience in a business office.
+ Experience in higher education.
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
+ Professional license or certification in accounting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs.
+ Excellent oral and written communication; customer service and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to comprehend and apply rules and regulations in a complex environment.
+ Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Working knowledge of database programs. Knowledge of reconciliations.
+ Familiarity with FAMIS, USAS and the TAMU environment.
+ Practical knowledge of governmental and higher education operations.
+ Knowledge of higher education.
