What We Do:
• Uncover and leverage causal relationships between Supply Chain dynamics and Customer Experience (CX) outcomes
• Develop predictive algorithms to identify and prevent delivery disruptions before they impact customers
• Design and implement real-time ML systems for intelligent decision-making across fulfillment and transportation networks
• Create sophisticated mathematical models optimizing the critical balance of speed, cost, and reliability
• Lead rigorous experimental design and analysis to systematically reduce delivery defects

Key job responsibilities
- Work backwards from customer needs to determine appropriate scientific approaches
- Deliver high-quality solutions that balance innovation with business impact
- Invent or adapt new scientific approaches, models and algorithms at the project level, driven by customer needs
- Design and deploy production-quality components that meet engineering standards
- Develop scalable solutions that can be integrated into larger systems
- Produce high-quality research reports and potentially contribute to peer-reviewed publications
- Drive operational excellence in team deliverables

You'll work closely with Amazon's core logistics teams, translating scientific innovations into practical solutions that enhance delivery experiences at massive scale.
About the team
The Customer Delivery Excellence (CDE) Science team operates at the intersection of advanced analytics, applied research, and operational excellence within Amazon's global supply chain. Our multidisciplinary team of scientists tackles complex challenges across the entire fulfillment and delivery network, combining theoretical frameworks with practical applications to drive meaningful improvements in service performance.

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application experience
- PhD, or Master's degree and 5+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
- Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
- Experience in professional software development
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics or equivalent quantitative field
- Experience with generative deep learning models applicable to the creation of synthetic humans like CNNs, GANs, VAEs and NF

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
