    Description

    Robert Half Technology is seeking a skilled and proactive Server Administrator to support a professional services organization based in Seattle, Washington. This role requires hands-on experience with VMware, server hardware, cloud deployments, and document backup solutions. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining a reliable, secure, and scalable IT environment.

     

    Duration: 6-month contract (with potential to extend)

     

    Schedule: Monday-Friday (8-5pm)

    Key Responsibilities:

    VMware & Virtualization:

    + Administer and maintain VMware vSphere environments, including configuration, patching, and performance tuning.

    + Deploy and manage virtual machines, monitor host health, and ensure high availability.

    Server Infrastructure:

    + Support and maintain physical server hardware, including installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

    + Evaluate and deploy new hardware and ensure compatibility with system architecture.

    Cloud & Hybrid Deployments:

    + Assist in planning and executing cloud-based server deployments and hybrid infrastructure projects.

    + Work with platforms such as AWS, Azure, or private cloud solutions to support scalable infrastructure needs.

    Backup & Disaster Recovery:

    + Manage and monitor document and system backup solutions, ensuring data integrity and recovery readiness.

    + Perform regular backup testing and assist with disaster recovery planning and execution.

    System Monitoring & Maintenance:

    + Monitor server performance, patch systems, and respond to alerts to prevent downtime.

    + Implement and document standard operating procedures, maintenance plans, and system changes.

    Requirements

    + 5+ years of hands-on experience in server administration with a focus on VMware.

    + Proficiency with physical server hardware (Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc.) and troubleshooting.

    + Experience with cloud infrastructure environments (Azure, AWS, or similar).

    + Strong knowledge of backup tools (e.g., Veeam, Acronis, Commvault) and best practices for data protection.

    + Solid understanding of networking concepts, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Windows Server environments.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + VMware certification (VCP or similar) is a plus.

    + Experience with scripting/automation tools such as PowerShell or Bash.

    + Familiarity with ITIL practices or service management platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
