    We’re looking for a Part Time Facility Maintenance Support Technician to work on sites surrounding the Baltimore, MD area. You’ll be trained and mentored by our experienced staff to work on various routine maintenance and support, environmental monitoring, and site development construction support. You’ll assist the site supervisor in maintaining the daily Operation Log and monitoring the groundwater gradient monitoring system by completing daily inspections and completing daily inspection logs, and maintenance of the process pumps: quarterly check of bolts, packing, and alignment, and an annual performance test. You’ll also monitor the groundwater collection and transfer operation: monitor system performance and maintain all valves and process piping within the tank room and truck transfer bay. We’ll need you to complete annual cleaning of the two 11,000-gallon storage tanks and inspection/cleaning of the truck transfer bay collection sump, repair/re-thread manhole lid bolt threads and roadway vault access hatch threads and maintenance of the extraction well system pressure gauges at least quarterly or more frequently as determined by the Honeywell site representative. You’ll also be responsible for measuring water levels of the piezometers to verify the accuracy of the ultrasonic water level measurements monthly, along with monthly inspections of the extraction well vaults and any maintenance activities identified during the inspection. We’ll teach you to assist in monitoring the pumping activities of each well-style pump and, monthly, inspect the well-style pumps by turning them on and off if they do not already cycle on at least monthly.

    More Key Responsibilities:

    • Safety will be your priority as you contribute to operational excellence and maintain the highest standards of Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance in everything you do.

    • Install, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment, including heavy equipment and vehicles, as needed, on project sites.

    • Ensures that the installation and repair of equipment complies with agency policy and local codes and regulations.

    • Replace units or parts, such as gears, bearings, and filters.

     

    Special Note: Appointment to some sites may require confined space entry. The confined space is large enough that an employee can bodily enter and perform assigned tasks but has limited or restricted means for entry or exit and is not designed for continuous employee occupancy.

     

    These areas could include tanks, manholes, silo pits, vaults, spillways, vessels, etc., and could have the possibility to contain an atmospheric hazard. Employees working at these types of facilities will be required to enter and perform the work involved with confined spaces and will be required to adhere to all safety procedures and participate in trainings associated with confined space entry.

     

    The employee is occasionally required to lift 50 lbs., using proper lifting techniques, and regularly required to use proper protective equipment such as coveralls, vision and hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, and hard hats when necessary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and arms to handle equipment. The employee is also regularly required to hear and talk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and climb to service equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

     

    • Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a GED equivalency certificate.

    • US Citizenship.

    • Possession of a valid driver's license meeting the requirements of Maryland law.

    • Experience related to performing installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment.

    • Appointment to some sites may require the ability to obtain a security clearance.

    • Possess mechanical reasoning and aptitude; with the natural ability to understand the mechanics of machines and systems.
