(You can learn more about the DOAhere.) *What is this career opportunity? * The Local Government Services Bureau (LGSB) provides compliance and technical assistance support to more than 1,300 local government entities across the state (counties, cities & towns, school districts, and special purpose districts). LGSB works with the local governments to ensure uniform financial accountability and to assist the local governments in complying with their statutory financial and accountability requirements.The bureau also includes the Local Government Records Management and State Social Security Administration functions.*We are a small close-knit group that has a passion for supporting local governments. *** ** LGSB is seeking a*Financial Compliance Specialist.* This position will act as the State Social Security Administrator (SSSA) thus ensuring local government compliance with related federal regulations and will serve as the Department of Administration’s assigned member of the Local Government Records Management Committee.You would report to the LGSB Financial Compliance Manager and work closely with the LGSB teamin providing accounting support. If you have a desire to provide exceptional customer service, the ability to identify and improve areas in need of process improvement, and ability to provide recommendations based on research you could be the individual we are searching for. _Other responsibilities include:_ * Liaise between state and local governments and the State Social Security Administration * Monitor legislative activity for impacts to LGEs on State Social Security, records management, and other statutory compliance matters. * Operational and data coordination and reporting * Policies and procedures development and updates * MCA, ARM, and SSS research * Assisting with Compliance Supplement guidance * Assisting with local government Uniform Accounting Structure (BARS) structure * Analysis and review of school district audits and corrective action plans * Internal Audit testing and reporting (You can learn more about the Local Government Services Bureauhere) /In this position you will be afforded the opportunity to telework, however there will be required weekly in office day(s) in Helena.
