Job Title: General Production Worker

Job Description

Join a dynamic team in the wood shop as a General Production Worker. You will have the opportunity to work in one of two departments: the Steel Shop or the Wood Shop, depending on the company's current needs. This role offers the potential for three different positions: Catcher, Builder, or a specialized role, with a significant focus on builder positions.

Responsibilities

+ Assemble trusses, pre-cut, and label them according to work orders.

+ Set up jigs and tack plates using a tape measure to precise 16th-inch measurements.

+ Use essential tools such as a hammer and staple gun, and occasionally work on knees with knee pads for specific tasks.

+ Stand the truss upright in the yard, collaborating with the forklift operator when necessary.

+ Work alongside the saw operator, catching wood cut to proper measurements and checking angles with a carpenter square.

+ Stack and label long boards on pallets, requiring physical effort.

Essential Skills

+ Ability to lift 50lbs.

+ Proficiency in reading a tape measure.

+ Minimum 6 months of previous experience in labor, manufacturing, production, or construction.

+ Score at least 80% on Basic Industrial Math and Basic Ruler Reading tests.

Work Environment

Cascade Manufacturing Company is a leading Midwest manufacturer of cold-formed steel trusses, wall panels, and wood components. The work environment is heated during the winter and well-ventilated in the summer. Employees follow a dress code of jeans, shorts, T-shirt, and steel-toed shoes. Personal tools, such as a 25ft tape measure and other specified tools, are required in the wood plant, while only a tape measure is needed in the steel plant. The company provides necessary safety equipment like hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, and hard hats. Shift hours vary with a first shift from 6-4:30 M-Th and 6-noon on Fridays, a second shift from 3:30-1am Mon-Th and noon-6pm on Fridays, and a third shift from 11pm-6am Sun-Thurs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of CASCADE, Iowa.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.07 - $23.07/hr.
