    Job Title: Maintenance Technician

    Job Description

    This role entails maintaining and repairing production equipment and facility systems within a fast-paced, GMP-regulated food manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Technician will handle both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, support preventive maintenance programs, assist with production line changeovers and startups, and ensure all work is properly documented and validated with engineering. Additionally, this position involves ordering parts, coordinating with vendors, and supporting outsourced service teams.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of production equipment.

    + Support preventive maintenance programs and production line changeovers.

    + Document and validate all work with engineering.

    + Order parts and coordinate with vendors.

    + Support outsourced service teams.

    + Assist in production line startups.

    Essential Skills

    + 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance within a manufacturing or food processing environment.

    + 2+ years of experience in electrical processing, including troubleshooting 3-phase power systems and interpreting electrical schematics.

    + Experience with motors, VFDs, and control panels.

    + 5 years of experience in mechanical repair, including conveyor systems, gearboxes, bearings, and line changeovers.

    + 5 years of experience in preventive maintenance, specifically with hydraulics and pneumatics.

    + Ability to read pneumatic schematics and troubleshoot valves, cylinders, and air systems.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + 1+ year of experience in food manufacturing or GMP environments.

    + 1+ year of experience in TIG welding, particularly light welding on stainless steel components for equipment repair or fabrication.

    + 1+ year of experience in fabrication, including cutting, grinding, and assembling custom brackets or machine parts.

    + Basic PLC troubleshooting skills, including identifying and resetting PLC faults (no programming required).

    + Spanish language skills are helpful for communicating with bilingual team members and vendors.

    Work Environment

     

    Work in a GMP-regulated environment with 3-4 production lines, including herring, smoked salmon, fresh salmon, and ready-to-eat food lines. Become part of a two-person maintenance team as the third technician. The environment may have a fishy smell, but masks can be worn due to GMP requirements.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Chicago, Illinois.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $79000.00/yr.
