Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of steel processing and material handling equipment. This position emphasizes maintaining and troubleshooting high-voltage systems (up to 480V), PLCs, and complex mechanical systems. The technician will work with specialized equipment, including coil polishing lines, sheet polishing machines, and cut-to-length systems.
Responsibilities
+ Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems.
+ Troubleshoot and repair high-voltage (up to 480V) electrical systems, motors, and control panels.
+ Diagnose and repair PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems.
+ Maintain and service hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
+ Support operations involving coil polishing, sheet polishing, and cut-to-length equipment.
+ Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
+ Ensure all work complies with OSHA and company safety standards.
+ Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
Essential Skills
+ 5 or more years of experience in a metal manufacturing maintenance technician environment.
+ Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical and electrical systems.
+ Proficiency in hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
+ Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate with production employees to solve problems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High school graduate or trade school preferred.

Work Environment
This position operates in a heavy industrial setting with exposure to high-voltage equipment, moving machinery, and metal processing operations. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and strict adherence to safety protocols are required. The team is a smaller operation with 35 total employees on site.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Montgomery, Illinois.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $38.00/hr.
