This position supports Munson Healthcare's community hospitals including locations in Cadillac, Charlevoix, Frankfort, Gaylord, Grayling, and Manistee. Primary work office will be in one of these hospitals.
SUMMARY
The Clinical Quality Data Analyst will apply strong organizational, analytic, and problem resolution expertise to manage comprehensive patient data collection, abstraction, organization, and submission. This role is also responsible for leading performance improvement of assigned priorities.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Experience/Education
o Bachelor’s degree in Biostatistics, Business, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Public Health, Operations Management, or other healthcare discipline required. Advanced degree and/or relevant certification preferred.
o A minimum of five years’ experience in healthcare setting preferred.
o Demonstrated experience with performance improvement methodologies and data analytics.
o Maintenance of professional development memberships in recognized professional organization preferred.
o Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are required. Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationship with a variety of stakeholders.
o Demonstrated skill in data organization, visualization, interpretation, and presentation.
o Requires independent judgement and self-direction action skills.
o Must maintain high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
o Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and activities.
o Knowledge of medical terminology.
ORGANIZATION
Under the general supervision of the Director of Quality and Patient Safety. Works closely with assigned physician champion(s), clinicians, and applicable department manager(s).
This position in based in the community hospitals. A primary office site will be determined. Occasional travel from designated site(s) will be required and will be reimbursed per MHC policy.

1. Specific Duties-
• Develops and implements methods and procedures for the collection, processing, compilation, editing, and analysis of data.
• Leads development of assigned programs.
• Designs and oversees routine production of scorecards, benchmarking tools, etc.
• Reviews medical records to abstract relevant data using electronic uploads and manual data abstraction of records.
• Assures data accuracy.
• If applicable, complete Blue Cross Blue Shield clinical data abstractor training and accurately complete chart review, abstraction, and submission as required. This may include external accuracy audits.
• Participates in activities of various hospital, system, and medical staff committees, CQI teams/work groups to promote quality improvements.
• Mentors and monitors multiple projects.
• Shares information and effectively implements solutions.
• Develops and maintains effective working relationships across various stakeholders.
• Cultivates healthcare team engagement.
2. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
