The MSN Content Ecosystem & Growth (CE&G) team is responsible for building a content powerhouse with 7000+ active brands worldwide to captivate the attention of our 100M+ daily active users. CE&G is expanding and transforming content corpus from predominantly news to covering a wide range of niche topics. Quality and Growth of the content is instrumental to the success of the MSN feed across a wide range of products like Windows, Bing, Edge, and Copilot. As a **Senior Software Engineer** on the team, you will contribute to the systems that directly impact billions of users of MSN. Our mission is to provide high quality, safe and engaging content to the users who utilize our product. We use advanced AI and LLM-based techniques to serve high quality content to MSN users. We are looking for a hands-on engineer who is passionate about building scalable systems and eager to bring the goodness of modern technology to CE&G.

Responsibilities

+ You will design and develop distributed software systems that are reliable, scalable, and performant. You will work closely with other engineers, product managers, and cross-functional partners to deliver impactful features and improvements.

+ You will write high-quality, maintainable, and testable code, and participate in code reviews to ensure best practices are followed. You will also help identify and resolve production issues, and continuously improve the performance and reliability of our systems.

+ You will collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver solutions that meet business goals. You will be expected to take initiative, think proactively, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Python C++, C, Java or JavaScript

+ OR equivalent experience.

+ 3+ years of experience designing and building scalable cloud solutions in distributed systems.

+ 3+ years of experience building and shipping production quality software or services.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

+ **Microsoft Cloud Background Check:** This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Python C++, C, Java or JavaScript

+ OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Python C++, C, Java or JavaScript

+ OR equivalent experience.

+ Passion for designing and building large-scale distributed systems.

+ Experience working with Service Fabric or Kubernetes.

+ Familiarity with building software systems that apply security best practices.

+ Drive to improve performance, availability, and reliability of services.

+ Motivation to increase efficiencies through automation.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
