**Compensation:** This position offers a base salary typically between $170,000 and $269,000. The Director, Key Account Veterinarian provides leadership and strategic direction to the Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health (BIAH) Key Account Veterinarian Team for the assigned species, to assume the field technical support role for an assigned strategic/key account(s) and to represent all the above teams on the species Leadership Team.
Duties & Responsibilities
+ Provides leadership and strategic direction to the Key Account Veterinarian team to ensure business goals are met through alignment of the Key Account Veterinarians and the strategic/key account managers (SAM/KAM), marketing and technical marketing.
+ Provides technical support to an assigned strategic/key account(s). Technical support may involve educating customers on BIAH products, data and/or administration of products, consultation on health programs, animal husbandry, management, diagnostic investigations, etc.
+ Assists SAM/KAM in development of account plan and strategy for assigned account(s).
+ Develops and fosters relationships with decision makers in the account(s).
+ Manages budgets appropriately and direct team members to invest in activities that provide highest value to our customers and yield the largest ROI for BIAH.
+ Ensures the key account veterinary team are staffed with qualified personnel.
+ Effectively administers salary and reward programs.
+ Coaches/mentors, develops, motivates, and monitors team members' performance.
+ Performs all Company business in accordance with all regulations (e.g., EEO, FDA, etc.) and Company policy and procedures.
+ Immediately reports noted/observed violations to management.
+ Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts to maintain BIAH's excellent reputation within the animal health community and internally.
+ Collaborates cross functionally with Corporate Marketing colleagues, R&D, Sales & Marketing and colleagues from other business units. This position will also interface with pharmacovigilance and Veterinary Technical Services team to ensure regulatory compliance.
Requirements
+ A DVM degree with a minimum of ten (10) years industry experience (clinical practice, production medicine, technical service, etc.) of assigned species is required.
+ An additional degree (MS, PhD, MBA) or board certification in production, medicine, pathology, microbiology, of assigned species etc. is preferred.
+ One to three (1-3) years of previous management/leadership experience required, leadership of technical service teams preferred.
+ Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in at least one state in the United States.
+ Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and database applications.
+ Ability to travel up to 60% (may include overnight travel).
+ Valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.
+ Authorization and ability to drive a Company leased vehicle or authorized rental.
+ Demonstrated project management skills.
+ Solid interpersonal skills and group communication skills are required.
**Eligibility Requirements** :
+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
+ Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
+ Must be 18 years of age or older.
