Director, Innovation Center

Purpose:
Provide strategic and operational expertise, planning, and oversight for the Innovation Center (IC) as well as for programs supported by the IC which include the Wellness Center for Bone and Joint, and other UPMC System clinical programs. This effort includes exporting and scaling these programs into the community and with community involvement. The Director will be a primary leader to develop these innovative approaches that integrate processes with technologies to enhance the redesign of care delivery. Communicate, orally and in writing, these programs and approaches, regionally and nationally. In conjunction with the Medical Director, monitor the annual budget as needed. The Director will directly supervise 4 to 8 staff members and assist the Medical Director in performing performance reviews for IC staff and handling any other human resource issues as needed. The Director will also have a cross-matrix reporting responsibilities with the leadership of the multi-departmental and interdisciplinary Center for Bone and Joint Health.
Responsibilities:
+ Assist Medical Director and lead the development and implementation of all IC supported programs.
+ Develop and scale community outreach programs that focus on health and wellness.
+ Display strong interpersonal skills in order to act as the connector between multiple clinical programs.
+ Represent UPMC and the IC related efforts in talks and presentations within and outside of UPMC.
+ Interact with organizations and thought leaders regionally and nationally, as opportunities arise, to promote IC related programs.
+ Participate in strategic planning for the IC and supported programs, including alignment of work with the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of UPMC.
+ Maintain oversight of strategic implementation of the activities of the IC staff.
+ Oversees and provides performance evaluations of the IC staff, in conjunction with Medical Director.
+ Supports employee's professional development through UPMC career ladders and competencies.
+ Develops and oversees educational fellowship and internship programs.
+ Develops strategies to encourage the adoption and then scale of IC related programs.
+ Exemplifies the mission and goals of UPMC and the IC.
+ Works with Medical Director on budget and implementation of policies and procedures.
+ Works with Medical Director on developing and reviewing operating and capital budget expenditures.
+ *Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
+ *Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Master's Degree required and preferably in Nursing with 3 years of experience required as an Improvement Specialist, Sr. Improvement Specialist, or Project Manager.
+ Additional experience in clinical program development preferred.
+ Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams required.
+ Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external constituencies.
+ Significant health care experience in the areas of strategy, operations, and program development.
+ Experience presenting to high level audiences including physicians, boards of directors, and national organizations and conferences.
+ Human resources experience preferred. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**
