Summary:

We are looking for a Planner to join our Backbone team to support the expansion of our global network. This is an ideal role for a Network Planner that wants to work on a purpose built and ever-expanding network that touches and changes the lives of billions for the better every day.

Required Skills:

Network Datacenter Planner Responsibilities:

1. Create detailed Data Center Network capacity plans that include greenfield designs, brownfield upgrades, and other organic or inorganic growth drivers on a quarterly basis

2. Track changes of the latest developments in networking technologies, including routing protocols, hardware advancements, and network interface cards. Evaluate and integrate these technologies into the network planning process to enhance performance, reliability, and scalability.

3. Codify network design topologies and architectures using Interface Description Language for example thrift to ensure consistency between current production states and future desired network states.

4. Set and manage utilization levels for data center and fabric network layers. Monitor network performance and trigger necessary augmentations to maintain optimal operation and prevent bottlenecks

5. Work closely with engineering, operations, and other cross-functional teams to align network planning with broader organizational goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

6. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta

7. Understanding of fabric architectures, including spine-leaf designs and overlay/underlay networks

8. 2+ years of experience in network planning in high capacity, mission critical environment

9. Experience with designing Data Center, IP, Optical, or Fiber networks and knowledge of current technology

10. Knowledge of network topology and experience in building resiliency design

11. 3+ years of coding experience in Python or another programming language (e.g. PHP, C++, or Java)

12. Experience with data center infrastructure and cloud computing platforms

13. Production Network design and operations experience

14. Experience with network automation tools (Ansible, Python, Terraform)

15. Experience modeling and analyzing a business case for network expansion or fiber acquisition

Public Compensation:

$117,000/year to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
