General Summary:
Unum is seeking a highly motivated Senior Business Analyst to support initiatives focused on modernizing legacy systems, building API integrations, and optimizing digital capabilities.
This role requires a strong blend of strategic thinking, systems analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams including engineering, UX, product, and architecture. The ideal candidate brings curiosity, communication strength, and a metrics-driven mindset to deliver impactful, scalable solutions across multiple platforms in an Agile environment.
Job Specifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree required
+ 5 years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, or product delivery within Agile environments.
+ Strong knowledge of insurance systems and processes or related industry domains preferred
+ Demonstrated success in delivering complex software solutions with measurable business value.
+ Exceptional communication and facilitation skills; able to lead discussions and present ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
+ Comfortable working across geographically dispersed teams (U.S., Ireland, India).
+ Analytical thinker with the ability to distill ambiguity into actionable deliverables.
+ Familiarity with backlog management tools, ALM systems, and Agile methodologies.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Maintain a holistic view of the IT Delivery roadmap and ensure alignment with backlog tooling, enabling transparency through automated metrics, roadmaps, and reports.
+ Ensure product KPIs are measurable and integrated into delivery activities; escalate metric trends impacting performance to the Product Owner and leadership.
+ Collaborate with stakeholders across business and technical teams (e.g., architects, developers, UX, engineers) to define and refine user stories and requirements with clear acceptance criteria.
+ Translate business objectives into user stories, workflows, and data-driven features that support modernization efforts and consolidation of legacy applications.
+ Lead backlog grooming and decomposition, ensuring alignment with enterprise quality standards, planning horizons, and data integrity across ALM tools.
+ Elicit and document business requirements through interviews, workshops, workflow analysis, and systems documentation
+ Perform detailed business and system process analysis using enterprise tools to support strategic planning and roadmap execution.
+ Evaluate third-party and cloud-native solutions for suitability, including layout, workflow, dashboard, and reporting functionality.
+ Participate in and support Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, planning, retrospectives, and test activities.
+ Maintain high product backlog quality by ensuring work items are well-defined, traceable, and meet the enterprise definition of ready.
+ Serve as a change agent by identifying, evaluating, and implementing process improvements and innovations that reduce waste and increase delivery efficiency.
+ Lead impact assessments for scope changes and ensure requirements reflect current business needs and external influences.
+ Mentor junior business analysts (BA I/II) and promote best practices across Agile and business analysis functions.
+ Collaborate with Product Owners capability backlog prioritization, providing accurate and timely insights to inform roadmap decisions.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$89,400.00-$183,500.00
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
