    Job Summary

    Wediko New York is looking for a School-Based Mental Health Professional to support summer programming at New Directions Secondary School in the Bronx. Position is a temporary position July-August 2025.

     

    The School-Based Mental Health Professional is responsible for providing clinical consultation to the partner school. They are responsible for the planning and management of individual and small group counseling caseload, classroom/teacher support, outreach and coordination, as well as all reporting needed for billing, evaluation and clinical purposes. They will report to the Site Manager or designee. Based on an hourly range of $70 - $80 an hour for up to 60 hours over the course of the summer.

    Essential Functions

    + Provides direct school-based services, clinical consultation, crisis counseling, assessments and community-based resource referrals at two sites in the Bronx.

    + Coordinates and provides individual and group counseling

    + Completed required documentation in a timely manner for billing, evaluation, and clinical purposes

    + Facilitates communication between students, families, and school staff

    + Cultivates and maintains effective relationships with school

    + Compiles and submits required compliance reports for funders and contractors

    Qualifications

    + Advanced degree in mental health (e.g., Master of Social Work, Master of Arts in Counseling, Master of Mental Health Counseling, Master of Marriage and Family Therapy, MS Ed. Counseling)

    + LMSW strongly preferred

    + 1-3 years’ experience supervising professional field-based staff in school-based programs

    + 3-5 years’ experience working within or managing programs serving youth and families

    + Strong communication (verbal and written with proficiency in English) and interpersonal skills

    + Ability to approach challenges in a supportive and creative manner

    + Excellent organizational and prioritization skills

    + Commitment to working from a strengths-based perspective.

    + Commitment to ongoing learning and development, proven use of supervision to improve practice.
