COLSA Corporation is hiring for an Unmanned Systems Engineering Technician to support the design, prototyping, and testing of unmanned platforms. This hands-on role involves CAD modeling, additive manufacturing, flight testing, and data analysis using tools like SolidWorks, MATLAB, and ArduPilot.
+ Supports the design and prototyping of mechanical and electromechanical systems for unmanned platforms, using tools such as SolidWorks and MATLAB.
+ Develops and sustains detailed engineering drawings and technical data packages in compliance with ASME Y14-series standards and MIL-STD-31000B.
+ Utilizes additive manufacturing methods (e.g., SLS and FDM) for prototyping purposes.
+ Constructs and assembles prototype or experimental models, fixtures, and test apparatus.
+ Conducts tests or experiments using a variety of test equipment, records and evaluates data, and prepares reports.
+ Assists in UAS build, test, and flight activities, including tuning, troubleshooting, and sensor integration using Ardupilot, BetaFlight, and related tools.
+ Analyzes UAS flight logs and telemetry data for autopilot performance assessment and tuning.
+ Collaborates with engineering teams on efforts related to lean manufacturing, part protection, fixture/tooling design, and drawing revision.

Required SkillsRequired Experience
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ 1+ year of experience working with sUAS platforms, including build, integration, or flight testing support
+ FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification
+ Strong proficiency in SolidWorks mechanical CAD, with experience creating and maintaining ASME-compliant engineering drawings
+ Familiarity with engineering documentation practices per MIL-STD-31000B
+ Working experience with additive manufacturing, including SLS and FDM
+ Strong proficiency with Ardupilot and BetaFlight software tools for autopilot tuning, mission planning, and flight log analysis
+ Must be able to work from schematics, diagrams, engineering drawings, and written/verbal descriptions
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and general computer literacy
+ Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required; US Citizenship required.
Preferred Experience:
+ Completed coursework torward undergraduate engineering degree
+ Familiarity with unmanned systems developed under the TStorm program, including rapid prototyping, flight testing, and sensor integration, is a plus.
