Job Summary and Qualifications

AVP Research Strategy and Development is responsible for developing, growing, and maintaining existing and new partnerships with key pharmaceutical, biotech, and device companies to ensure a robust pipeline of business opportunities for the Research Institute and therapeutic lines of business. Provides leadership to responsible research team and is accountable for developing and growing relationships with HCA Service/business lines and strategic programming to support the Research Institute’s mission of improving patient outcomes and advancing medical science through innovation and quality execution of clinical research. This role works collaboratively with VP Operations, AVP Site Operations, Finance, HCA leadership, Service Line leaders, Chief Scientific Officer and the Research Executive Governance Committee to achieve short-term and long-term growth and strategic objectives.

Duties include but are not limited to:

+ Grow and maintain existing and new partnerships with key pharmaceutical and biotech companies to ensure a robust pipeline of studies and business opportunities for The Research Institute.

+ Leads efforts to develop relationships with external strategic partners and build business development team and processes

+ Leads Research Institute’s service/business lines and program development

+ Critical liaison between service/business lines, finance, clinical research leadership, and site operations

+ Represents HCA Research Institute to external partners to develop new business opportunities and optimize existing partner relationships

+ Identification of critical areas for growth and/or improvement within the organization and institute that will better enable grow and the delivery of research offerings

+ Communicate and track emerging trends regarding multispecialty research, clinical trials, records-based research, and related technologies for the organization and portfolio

+ Leads the collection, interpretation, and dissemination of key intelligence and information in relation to multispecialty research, clinical trials, and other areas of the business as appropriate

+ Responsible for developing , implementing and leading records-based research strategy, resources and team

+ Leadership responsibilities for the service line and program development team. Includes hiring, developing, directing, and evaluating direct reports and ensuring the employment, retention, development, and assessment of quality staff.

+ Partners with the Chief Scientific Officer, Sr. Director of Business Development and Director of Operations for operations insight on strategic partnership opportunities

+ Collaborates with HRI leadership team, hospital administrative teams, service line leadership, and physicians to implement the HCA Research Institute strategy to ensure high quality and efficient services while promoting growth

+ Support collaboration opportunities across internal research teams and departments

Education & Experience:

+ Bachelor’s Degree Required

+ Master’s Degree Preferred

+ 7+ years of experience in related area

+ 5+ years of experience in clinical research or service line management
