Job Summary:
Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America (PECNA) is seeking ambitious experienced engineers to lead the world’s largest lithium ion battery initiative. With superior battery designs and the fastest manufacturing lines in the world, Panasonic is producing millions of batteries per day at the Gigafactory to support Tesla’s electric vehicle and energy storage businesses. At PECNA, experienced engineers continue to develop their skills to become experts in the fundamentals of lithium-ion cell technology and work to integrate that understanding with high speed, automated manufacturing methods to produce the highest performance and highest quality lithium ion batteries. In this experienced engineering role, you will be responsible for developing tools to analyze and summarize large datasets to improve product quality, reduce defects and enhance overall manufacturing efficiency. The ideal experienced candidate will apply advanced statistical methods and modeling to proactively explore key datasets based on business need. This experienced engineering role will define the statistical modeling standards and assist with educating other analyst team members on best practices. Additionally, they will identify gaps in existing data that would lead to further meaningful data insights for business use.
Essential Duties:
+ Lead cross-functional collaboration, including quality engineers, process engineers and manufacturing teams, to develop and implement data-driven solutions to improve quality and efficiency.
+ Drive the formulation and execution of comprehensive strategies for analytical modeling throughout the entire lifecycle, encompassing data ccess, processing, aggregation, as well as model creation, deployment, and validation, in alignment with business requirements.
+ Efficiently analyze large datasets and develop predictive models to identify patterns and insights related to product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
+ Implement advanced statistical methods and data modeling processes to create algorithms to make impacts on business success.
+ Use expert knowledge to verify data models with subject matter experts and monitor the model’s efficacy in production
+ Serve as a recognized authority in advanced analytical techniques such as statistical analytics, machine learning, deep learning, and more, providing subject matter expertise as an experienced engineer.
+ Architect and execute the development of data visualization tools and interactive dashboards, enabling high-level engineers to access real-time insights on manufacturing.
+ Identify gaps and provide solutions within current datasets to initiate new data acquisition projects aligned with specific business needs, leveraging advanced expertise as a high-level engineer.
+ Conduct comprehensive research and ongoing monitoring of emerging technologies and systems, devising strategic plans for the implementation of advanced analytical modeling in support of business objectives as a high-level engineer.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
+ To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications
Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Education:
+ Basic/Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field.
Essential Qualifications:
+ Minimum of 5+ years of professional or an equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Demonstrated expert experience working with big datasets in the following stages: acquisition, aggregation, analysis, and visualization
+ Expert understanding and knowledge in algorithms and advanced statistics
+ Proven track record with advanced analytical techniques (statistical analytics, machine learning, deep learning, etc.)
+ Programming skills for data science required (SQL, Python, R, Java, Matlab, etc.)
+ Tangible history of making large impacts to business from developing data modeling processes and using critical thinking mindset to improve processes.
+ Must be able to learn and understand equipment capabilities, operation flow, and data flow logics
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills required, ability to describe technical theory to technical and non-technical audience
+ Strong team working skills with other employees at all levels of an organization.
