    Job Description

    Job Duties:

    Reporting to the Director of Boston College’s Institute for Advanced Jesuit Studies (IAJS), the **Editor, Digital Scholarship** promotes and facilitates collegiality between the Institute for Advanced Jesuit Studies (IAJS) and the global network of Jesuit Studies scholars, through the advancement of the historical study of the Society of Jesus and their educational and spiritual mission. Oversee all Digital Projects within the IAJS, including the Jesuit Online Bibliography, Jesuit Online Library, Jesuit Historiography Online, the Digital Indipetae Project, the Portal to Jesuit Studies, the Jesuit Necrology Database, the Jesuit Catalogues Database, the Proceedings for the International Symposia on Jesuit Studies, the Online Chronicon, and any other forthcoming digital projects, including mobile phone applications. Serve as the liaison to the University Library, external digital vendors, and other Boston College departments as they relate to IAJS digital and, on occasion, some print projects. Working with the Director and Associate Director, provide input into the Institute’s overall digital strategy and contributes to the implementation of this strategy.

    Requirements

    Minimum Requirements:

    Ph.D. degree in History, Religion or Digital Humanities plus three years of experience as a website designer or online database editor.

    Experience, which may be gained concurrently, to include:

    + Demonstrated advanced knowledge (through archival experience, scholarly publication or coursework) of Jesuit archives, Jesuit history and the global scholarship that promotes Jesuit Studies;

    + Demonstrated competence (through experience, scholarly publication or coursework) in the systematic use of digital resources and analysis of their application;

    + Demonstrated proficiency in Latin and related paleography; and

    + One year of project management experience.
