    BJC is creating a team of equipment specialists to focus on OR equipment. In this role, the working manager will oversee a team of specialists, help to grow the team and provide the appropriate onboarding and team support.

     

    This is an exciting opportunity with experience in leadership and specialized operating room equipment to motivate and develop a team for a growing Perioperative Services business line.

     

    This is a 24/7 operation. The Periop Service Manager will be required to work occasional weekends and off hours to connect with the team and provide audits of quality and service.

    Role Purpose

     

    Manages all aspects of the BJH Perioperative Services Equipment management program including but not limited to capital planning, inventory management, clinical and support staff education/in-service, setup, troubleshooting, and coordination with CE on equipment PM and repairs. Oversees a team of equipment specialists with oversight for all clinical equipment (capital and non-capital) for Perioperative Services, requiring a high degree of technical knowledge of complex monitoring instrumentation, anesthesia machines, alarm devices, life support and specialty equipment.

    Responsibilities

    + Manages the decision support activities related to diagnosis, repair, preventive maintenance, vendor contracts and quality assurance of patient care and other devices, and is responsible for medical device recalls. Provides guidance and leadership to employees 24/7 and manages on-call requests.

    + Responsible for managing and maintaining inventory database. Maintains awareness and conforms to The Joint Commission, other federal, state or local government regulations for HSO accreditation.

    + Promotes excellent customer relations through participation in departmental and leadership meetings, maintains good working relationships with clinical staff, facilitates frequent as needed in service and training for clinical team members. Facilitates equipment demo and evaluations. Participates and provides input on strategic Capital Equipment planning and implementation.

    + Assists senior leadership/physicians in the forecasting, replacement, and evaluation of medical devices. Helps coordinate equipment evaluations. Aids in the development of annual goals and objectives related to supporting the growth and development of services in response to the equipment support needs of the organization.

    + Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.

    + Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.

    + BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education

    + Associate's Degree - Clncl or Biomed Edu/Equivalent

    Experience

    + 2-5 years

    Supervisor Experience

    + < 2 years

    + Biomedical Equipment Tech
