Job Description
Join our team as a Phlebotomist III in an inpatient setting where you will play a crucial role in patient care. As a phlebotomist, you will be responsible for various laboratory tasks, including blood draws, specimen labeling, and maintenance record keeping. Your role is vital in ensuring the accurate collection and handling of specimens while providing excellent customer service to patients.
Responsibilities
+ Greet patients as they arrive in the lab.
+ Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
+ Centrifuge and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously.
+ Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and butterfly needles.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
+ Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
+ Handle insurance, billing, and processing of samples.
+ Provide excellent customer service and answer telephone inquiries.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in drawing blood and venipuncture techniques.
+ Experience in blood drawing and phlebotomy.
+ Ability to handle specimen collection and processing.
+ Strong customer service skills.
+ Experience with straight needles and butterfly needles.
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ 1+ years of phlebotomy or venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
+ Previous customer service experience in any setting.
+ Patient-first mindset with a positive attitude.
+ Ability to take feedback well and eagerness to learn.
+ Proven reliability and positive attendance.
Work Environment
Multiple open shifts Monday-Friday with rotating weekend days.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.85 - $27.00/hr.
