    The Autism Language Program (ALP) at Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a full-time ASHA Certified Speech-Language Pathologist with Massachusetts licensure (or license eligibility) who specializes in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) with a focus on autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This is not a Clinical Fellowship position.

     

    The ALP provides dynamic, individualized evaluations and interventions for individuals with complex communication profiles. Clinicians are encouraged to pursue AAC-related research and develop specific clinical interests that align with the mission of the program.

     

    Schedule: Full-time, on-site with potential hybrid flexibility in the future. One Saturday per month required, with potential for expanded Saturday coverage.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Perform AAC evaluations using a feature-matching approach for individuals with a primary diagnosis of ASD

    + Conduct dynamic communication and language evaluations across receptive, expressive, and speech functioning domains

    + Interview and counsel patients and families about communication disorders

    + Plan and implement case management, follow-up, and referrals

    + Document and report evaluation results clearly and accurately

    + Collaborate within and across departments to support patient care

    + Follow all hospital and departmental policies and procedures

    + Contribute to AAC-related research and/or develop projects within the scope of the clinical role

    + Develop clinical specialties within AAC and autism that further the mission of the ALP

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:

    + Master’s degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology

    Experience:

    + Minimum of 1 year of direct clinical experience using AAC tools (from no-tech to high-tech) in evaluation and treatment

    + Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience working with Level 2–3 autistic individuals with complex communication profiles (e.g., minimally speaking or non-speaking)

    Licensure/Certifications:

    + ASHA Certification in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)

    + Massachusetts SLP license or license eligibility
