We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join the Hunt Forest Products accounting team, supporting operations across Hunt Forest Products, LaSalle Lumber Company, and Bienville Lumber Company.

Duties & Responsibilities

+ Monitor, correct, and update the LIMS (Log Inventory Management System) for accurate tract/source data, vendor info, volume adjustments, and rate errors; review reports to ensure data integrity

+ Manage log and residual processing through LIMS to G/L, A/P, and A/R; handle weekly settlements, month-end closings, and reconcile log inventory, timber, and costs

+ Update inventory spreadsheets and summary reports, input G/L entries, analyze fiber costs, pay severance taxes, and support Forestry with summarized findings

+ Reconcile G/L to bank statements on a weekly & monthly basis for all entities

+ Monitor sales/use tax accruals for accurate reporting and payments

+ Provide analysis of utilities, supply, and expense costs for Operations

+ Assist with annual financial audit and income tax data requests

+ Assist with annual budgets, quarterly forecasting and

+ Assist with weekly financial statements

Skills

+ Requires high degree of initiative, judgement, discretion, and decision-making to achieve objectives

+ Must be able to identify, analyze, and resolve accounting and financial problems

+ Ability to analyze financial results from operations

+ Proficient with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel

+ Highly professional, ability to maintain confidentiality of information

Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in a business-related field

+ Strong attention to detail and data accuracy

+ Proficient in Microsoft 365/Office Products and general financial software tools

+ Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

+ Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays if needed

+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills

+ Self-starter with a collaborative mindset

+ This position requires residency within a commutable distance to Ruston, LA., this position is not remote.

Preferred

+ Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

+ Prior experience with Power BI or other data warehouse dashboard tools

+ 1-3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role

+ Prior experience in Wood products or other manufacturing
