    The University of Michigan Department of Radiation Oncology invites applications for a board certified/eligible Radiation Oncologist at the rank of Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor to build an academic career. The disease site focus is flexible based on departmental needs and the interests of the candidate but could include metastatic disease, spine radiosurgery, lymphoma/hematologic malignancies, soft tissue sarcoma, gynecologic cancers, and benign disease.The ideal candidate will display excellent interpersonal skills, excellence in patient care, and the ability to work successfully with a team. In addition to providing patient care, the faculty member will be expected to conduct research, including clinical trials, publish, and teach medical students and residents.     Responsibilities*

    In addition to clinical practice, there will be opportunities for teaching and clinical services research. This position will have strong connections to and enjoy support and opportunities for collaborative work with University of Michigan faculty colleagues. The major criterion for appointment in the Clinician track is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical research, and teaching.We are interested in candidates with strong training in clinical radiation oncology and a track record of clinical research. The successful candidate will build a clinical radiation oncology practice, working with colleagues and the multi-disciplinary team to support the overall clinical program of which they are a part, and be expected to provide excellent clinical care in a multi-disciplinary oncology setting. In addition, the qualified candidate will be expected to conduct clinical research and enroll patients onto clinical trials. The candidate will have access to the University of Michigan Clinical Trials Office in order to open investigator-initiated trials and be able to work with trainees and medical students on clinical research projects. The candidate will also have the opportunity for teaching and mentorship of our trainees during their rotations as well as through our mentorship program.

     

    Experience in multi-modality treatment planning (e.g. PET, 4D CT, MRI) including brachytherapy and interest in image guided radiotherapy (IGRT), stereotactic radiosurgery, and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), is strongly desired. As a faculty member of the University of Michigan Radiation Oncology, the successful candidate will be an active participant in institutional tumor boards and departmental meetings.

    Required Qualifications*

    Medical degree with completion of residency training in Radiation Oncology in an ACGME-certified program. Board Certified or Board eligible by the American Board of Radiology. Possess expertise in a variety of radiation treatment methods. Hold or have the ability to obtain the appropriate medical licenses for the state of Michigan. Previous record of publications in scientific journals, research and teaching is desirable.
