    UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside in Pittsburgh, PA seeks multiple Software Engineers, Senior to serve as part of UPMC Enterprises in close collaboration with members of UPMC management, Junior Software Engineers, and third-party partners to define and lead the development of new software and contribute to the overall Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for various applications and projects, including UPMC’s Health Plan application. Responsible for the design, integration, security, documentation and maintenance of several application development systems, SDLC projects and test environments with the support of junior software engineers. Leverage knowledge of User Interface technologies, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and Typescript, to validate and review secure processes and protocols, integrate the overall system design, define project-specific software development efforts, develop and review operating code, as well as implement software solutions based on customer requirements, UPMC Enterprises’ architecture standards, and defined project designs. Develop and enhance technical solutions to meet UPMC business and customer requirements. Create application technology structure and define interface requirements that are necessary for new technology solutions. Design, develop, and implement project designs. Analyze, review, and modify software code to correct errors and increase operating efficiency. Review new code before it is implemented into existing applications and software. Create build scripts, set up build environments, and writing automation scripts using Perl and Powershell for deploying the applications into test environments. Implement the installation and configuration of third-party software programs, such as Redis, Solr, and NService Bus. Recommend measures for troubleshooting and debugging existing applications, implement legacy-new software integrations, and develop roadmaps for code, system, and application development. Perform regression testing, user acceptance testing, and functional testing to assess the performance of application systems in order to identify any potential errors during development and ensure that applications perform as intended for implementation.

    Job Responsibilities:

    + Master’s degree, or equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field,

    + Plus two (2) years of computer engineering, application development, or related experience:

    + building new and maintaining existing web application features;

    + developing enhancements to existing software from requirements;

    + designing and implementing upgrade frameworks to transition older product deployments to newer versions;

    + developing build and automation scripts to deploy applications onto test environments;

    + utilizing containerization tools (i.e., Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and Openshift) to enhance deployment efficiency;

    + implementing continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS);

    + tuning existing DevOps frameworks by adopting proof of concept applications of cutting-edge technologies to produce high availability environments for software products;

    + utilizing Ansible to develop applications in an infrastructure-as-code approach;

    + executing comprehensive test suites utilizing regression testing, user acceptance testing, and functional testing to validate software functionality;

    + utilizing PowerShell, Perl, JavaScript, YAML, Ansible, ANT, Maven, AWS, and GIT Hub;

    + In lieu of Master’s degree, plus two (2) years of experience noted above, will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field plus five (5) years of progressive computer engineering, application development or related experience:

    + building new and maintaining existing web application features;

    + developing enhancements to existing software from requirements;

    + designing and implementing upgrade frameworks to transition older product deployments to newer versions;

    + developing build and automation scripts to deploy applications onto test environments;

    + utilizing containerization tools (i.e., Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and Openshift) to enhance deployment efficiency;

    + implementing continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS);

    + tuning existing DevOps frameworks by adopting proof of concept applications of cutting-edge technologies to produce high availability environments for software products;
