The Patient Access Representative (PAR) is the first point of contact for patients looking to obtain medical care. This position is responsible to welcome patients as they collect and verify personal information for registration.
Duties/Responsibilities:
+ Greets patients in a warm and welcoming manner.
+ Consistently takes initiative to gather more information to provide assistance to callers/visitors and route messages/calls to appropriate areas.
+ Conducts accurate patient interviews.
+ Answers incoming calls and directs the caller to the appropriate location.
+ Schedules appointments based on provider's practices and preferences.
+ Contacts patients to reschedule or cancel appointments as needed.
+ Verifies insurance coverage and performs point of service payment collections.
+ Takes clear and concise messages for staff as necessary.
+ Communicates effectively with clinical staff regarding patient appointments.
+ Attends mandatory in-services and/or meetings or makes arrangements with the appropriate supervisor for other arrangements.
+ Performs other duties as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
+ Knowledge of medical terminology.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
+ Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail.
+ Strong administrative and organizational skills
+ Compassionate and patient
+ Exceptional customer service skills.
Education and Experience:
+ High school diploma or equivalent required.
+ Minimum of one year of office or clerical experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
+ Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
+ Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
