Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Documentation & Spare Parts Inventory Specialist to support our maintenance team working on industrial (aerospace) equipment. This role is responsible for managing technical documentation and ensuring efficient tracking, availability, and control of spare parts inventory. The ideal candidate will play a key role in minimizing downtime, supporting preventative maintenance activities, and ensuring equipment reliability through accurate record keeping and inventory management.
Key job responsibilities
Documentation Management:
- Maintain and update all technical documents, including equipment manuals, service records, work orders, schematics, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure version control and proper storage (physical and digital) of documentation to support maintenance tasks and audits.
- Assist technicians in accessing required documentation for equipment repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Organize and maintain equipment history logs, calibration records, and compliance documentation.
Spare Parts Inventory Management:
- Monitor, receive, store, and issue spare parts and consumables used by the maintenance team.
- Track inventory levels using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or ERP system, and initiate reorders to prevent stockouts.
- Label, catalog, and organize parts clearly for quick identification and retrieval.
- Conduct periodic inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Coordinate with procurement and vendors to source parts and manage lead times.
Support & Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with maintenance planners and technicians to forecast parts usage and improve inventory accuracy.
- Identify obsolete or excess inventory and recommend disposal or reallocation.
- Help develop and document best practices for spare parts management and documentation control.
- Support compliance with safety and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO, etc.).
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
About the team
The Kuiper Equipment Group (KEG) performs preventative maintenance (PM) and repairs on the
equipment used to produce satellites. This prevents down time as well as damage to the
satellite and components and is an important step in keeping production flowing. The KEG
team strives to utilize time when the equipment is not needed for production to perform
PMs. If PMs are not performed regularly, the equipment may produce sub-quality
components.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of program or project management experience
- 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
- Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- 3+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
