    Responsibilities

    + Visits with patients and families in order to provide spiritual assessments, emotional/spiritual support and crisis intervention services.

    + Works with care coordinators/hospital staff in response to patient’s spiritual care needs.

    + Serves as a resource to the management team.

    + Provides appropriate grief ministry services as needed.

    + Provides for liturgical ministry and presides at worship services as appropriate.

    + Participates in appropriate TRMC in-service and orientation programs.

    + Participates in appropriate community education programs.

    + Participates in community organizations as appropriate and provides community relations services when available and deemed appropriate to role.

    + Develops and maintains good relationships with area clergy, churches and religious institutions to enhance care and communication to support patients/families during treatment.

    + Demonstrates initiative in seeking out learning experiences and educational opportunities.

    + Assists dying patients, helps to preserve dignity and carry out the patient’s desires as assessed through empathy with the patient’s needs.

    + Displays professionalism and adheres to hospital policies.

    + Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

    + Works with the Coordinator of Pastoral Care to provide consistent on-call coverage for the hospital community.

    + Responds to codes and trauma alerts as arranged through duty assignment during routine work hours and when on call

    Qualifications

    Education:

    + College graduate. Seminary or equivalent theological/ministerial education.

    + 4 Units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred

    Experience:

    + Minimum of one year of healthcare experience preferred.

    License(s)/Certification(s):

    + Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons Certification by a professional chaplaincy organization within two years of hire.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    + Ability to function effectively within team environment.

    + Ability to exercise good judgment, maintain interpersonal relationships, adapt to change, evaluate critically and think creatively and be able to organize and plan effectively.

    + Able to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.

    + Ability to maintain documentation of services provided.

    + Must demonstrate knowledge and skills to respond to spiritual needs of patients, families and employees.
