Buyer/Planner
Job Summary:
Nidec Minster is currently seeking a Buyer/Planner to support on-time production schedules through strategic procurement and effective production planning. This role is key to ensuring material availability, supplier performance, and optimal inventory levels-balancing productivity with cost efficiency and adherence to MRP planning logic.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Establish and implement strategic sourcing plans to minimize total cost, considering inflation containment, purchase price variance (PPV), and supplier delivery and quality performance.
+ Monitor internal and external supplier performance in areas of cost, quality, delivery, and service; work with suppliers to develop corrective actions.
+ Procure all commodities and straight buy items; manage purchasing requisitions, including quoting new items, updating expired quotes, and entering pricing into the ERP system.
+ Review and update purchase order acknowledgments; revise quotes and issue RFQs as needed.
+ Manage supplier-related quality issues, including non-conforming materials and quality notifications.
+ Collaborate cross-functionally to maintain a seamless flow of materials from suppliers through to final assembly or customer orders.
+ Review and act on MRP messages related to both manufacturing and purchasing.
+ Identify and respond to daily material shortages; resolve transactional discrepancies in a timely manner.
+ Visit supplier locations to assess their capacity and capability to meet production demands.
+ Ensure appropriate inventory levels for components, including those not listed on BOMs, to support the production schedule while minimizing inventory investment.
+ Release and manage production orders based on the production schedule and shipment plan.
+ Make recommendations on supplier selection and staffing needs to improve production flow.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field-or equivalent work experience.
+ 0-3 years of experience in procurement, planning, or a manufacturing support role.
+ APICS certification is a plus.
+ Strong analytical skills; ability to interpret statistical, financial, or logical data.
+ Effective communicator, verbal and written-with solid organizational and multitasking abilities.
+ Self-starter with a results-driven mindset and the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
