Job Summary

A Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with a limited X-ray license in an ambulatory care setting typically combines clinical and administrative duties related to patient care, including performing X-rays within their scope of practice. This role involves assisting physicians with procedures, taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and managing patient flow, along with performing limited X-ray procedures.

Key Responsibilities

+ Patient Care:

+ Greeting and preparing patients for examinations.

+ Taking vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure).

+ Recording patient history and updating medical records.

+ Assisting with procedures, such as injections, wound care, and specimen collection.

+ Administering medications as directed by the physician.

+ Providing patient education and instructions.

+ Maintaining a clean and organized exam room.

+ X-ray Procedures:

+ Operating X-ray equipment and positioning patients for procedures.

+ Ensuring proper radiation safety protocols are followed.

+ Developing and maintaining X-ray films.

+ Maintaining and troubleshooting X-ray equipment.

+ Administrative Tasks:

+ Scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.

+ Maintaining patient records and ensuring proper documentation.

+ Preparing and maintaining medical supplies and equipment.

+ Answering phones and handling patient inquiries.

Specifications

Experience

Minimum Required

+ Experience in a clinical setting, preferably in an ambulatory care environment

Preferred/Desired

+ Minimum of one year experience.

Education

Minimum Required

+ High School Diploma or equivalent

Training

Minimum Required

+ Approved nursing or medical assistant course

Preferred/Desired

Special Skills

Minimum Required

+ Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, and infection control procedures

+ Strong communication and interpsonal skills

Licensure

+ Certified by the following organizations: NCCT, NAHP, NHA, AMT, AAMA, or AAH ONLY or obtain withing 6 months of hire date.

+ Limited X-ray license or certification (e.g. Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist- LMRT)

+ American Heart Association Basic Life Support ONLY

Minimum Required

+ Certified by the following organizations: NCCT, NAHP, NHA, AMT, AAMA, or AAH ONLY or obtain withing 6 months of hire date.

+ American Heart Association Basic Life Support ONLY

+ Limited X-ray license or certification (e.g. Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist- LMRT)
