Job Description
The College of Liberal Arts is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor of Public Administration. Teaching assignments may include classroom (face-to-face), hybrid, and online classes. The successful candidate will show excellent and enthusiastic teaching skills and demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment. The incumbent will teach graduate level courses in the Master of Public Administration program and may need to contribute to the undergraduate teaching needs of the Political Science and/or Criminal Justice disciplines in the department. The area of specialization is open; however, candidates must be able to contribute to teaching in the core of the MPA program which includes topics such as U.S. Government and Texas Institutions, organizational theory, research methods, public budgeting, and policy making.
The Department of Social Sciences (DSOC) is a multi-disciplinary department in the College of Liberal Arts that offers undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice and the graduate degree of Master of Public Administration. Through its contribution to the core curriculum, Political Science is one of the largest generators of student credit hours for the university. The Criminal Justice program is one of the largest undergraduate majors on campus. The MPA program is the second largest graduate program in the College of Liberal Arts. DSOC faculty are leaders on campus, in the community, and in their disciplines. Required Qualifications:
+ Doctoral degree in Public Administration or a closely related discipline from an accredited university . Advanced ABD will be considered; Degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.
+ The potential to teach in a variety of formats to include classroom, hybrid, and online courses.
+ Ability to teach in the core of the MPA program, including topics such as U.S. Government and Texas Institutions, Organizational Theory, Research Methods, Public Budgeting, and Policy Making.
+ Ability to qualify for Graduate Faculty Status.
