    Director, Business Development - Nearshoring

     

    Director of Nearshoring – LAC Region

    Overview:

    The Commercial Solutions organization is seeking a strategic and results-driven professional to lead Mastercard’s Nearshoring Business Development Strategy across the LAC region. This individual will play a key role in capturing the fast-growing nearshoring opportunity by enabling cross-border payment flows, developing go-to-market strategies, and building a strong two-sided network of buyers and suppliers within the context of nearshoring investments.

    Corporate Solutions is a dynamic business unit within Mastercard, focused on unlocking new payment flows in B2B, Commercial POS, and cross-border segments. As nearshoring reshapes supply chains and trade corridors, Mastercard is strategically positioned to support companies relocating or expanding operations into Latin America by simplifying and optimizing their payment ecosystems.

     

    The Director of Nearshoring will work with both large corporates and financial institutions to deliver integrated payment solutions that address the complex needs of nearshoring operations—from supplier enablement to automated payables/receivables and treasury optimization.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Business Development & Strategy Execution

     

    Own and drive Mastercard’s Nearshoring Strategy in LAC, identifying and executing growth opportunities tied to supply chain relocation and regional manufacturing expansion.

     

    Build and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities, aligned to nearshoring trends and corporate investments in the region.

     

    Collaborate with internal teams (Product, Account Management, D&S) to develop tailored value propositions for the nearshoring segment.

     

    Identify relevant corporate clients and engage directly to understand their supply chain/payment pain points and propose Mastercard-powered solutions.

     

    Act as a subject matter expert on nearshoring trends in the region; influence strategy through market intelligence and field insights.

     

    Lead Direct-to-Corporate (D2C) engagements with large and mid-market corporates, including multinationals and multilatinas relocating procurement, manufacturing, or operations to LAC.

     

    Serve as a strategic advisor to clients, proposing scalable solutions that leverage Mastercard’s platforms and services (e.g., Virtual Cards, Smart Data, In Control, Cross-Border Services).

     

    Sales & Partnership Management

     

    Co-create sales strategies with FI partners and ensure alignment with Mastercard’s broader B2B and nearshoring priorities.

     

    Support FI partners in building capabilities to serve the payment needs of nearshoring corporates.

     

    Lead or contribute to responses to RFPs and client onboarding strategies.

     

    Partner with B2B Program Managers and Technical Account Managers to ensure seamless deal implementation and activation.

     

    Contribute to local and regional initiatives that support Mastercard’s role in driving economic development via nearshoring.

    Nearshoring-attributed GDV and Net Revenue

     

    Pipeline volume and conversion (Nearshoring-related deals)

     

    Client acquisition & retention in manufacturing, logistics, and export-driven industries

     

    Activation rates for new use cases and products

     

    Strategic partnerships signed and implemented (corporates, FI partners, industry bodies)

    Required Experience & Skills:

    Deep understanding of the nearshoring landscape, trade flows, and investment trends across LAC.

     

    Experience in commercial B2B payments, supply chain finance, or transaction banking, with a track record of delivering sales growth.

     

    Strong background in consultative sales or business development with large corporates.

     

    Excellent relationship-building skills and experience influencing C-level executives.

     

    Proven ability to build cross-functional coalitions and lead complex deal cycles.

     

    Ability to translate market insights into commercial strategies and customer solutions.

     

    Bilingual in Spanish and English; Portuguese is a plus.

     

    Strong presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.

     

    Familiarity with procurement, AP/AR automation, and embedded finance concepts.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    10+ years in commercial sales, business development, or corporate strategy roles in FinTech, financial services, or payments.

     

    Understanding of investment promotion agencies, export organizations, and manufacturing/logistics ecosystems in LAC.

     

    Demonstrated success working with global or regional corporates undergoing operational transformation or expansion.

    In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.     Pay Ranges

     

    Remote - Arizona: $143,000 - $229,000 USD
