    Responsibilities:

    Under the direction of the Asset Policy & Reporting Manager, this position is responsible to record information and develop reports related to FirstEnergy’s Transmission substation equipment which are classified as requiring Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP). This new position will also assist with the ongoing training of FirstEnergy staff to help ensure compliance with FirstEnergy and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) policies and procedures. Revise and develop new Energy Delivery asset policies, procedures, and create supporting documentation in coordination with Transmission Protection & Planning, Transmission Engineering, Transmission Project Management, Energy Delivery Operations, and Information Technology departments.

    These responsibilities include:

    + Update FirstEnergy’s policies and procedures that specifically involve governance of data and devices to ensure compliance to FirstEnergy and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) guidelines and requirements

    + Revise and update the documentation of FirstEnergy processes associated with the completion of transmission construction, to ensure compliance to NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP V5) guidelines

    + Participate in meetings and other discussions with Energy Delivery personnel to communicate consistent asset policy and procedure interpretations

    + Maintain the storage and version control of all CIP related document management content in FirstEnergy’s FileNet/Unifier system

    + Assist with the interpretation of corporate programs and policies

    + Assist with responding to compliance related items from internal and external stakeholders

    + Assist with metric reporting and monitoring of transmission assets and devices

    + Assist with review of the monitored results between all Operating Company departments to ensure consistent application of procedures

    + Support the Emergency Plan through participating in the assigned storm duties including hazard response and hazard dispatch activities

    + Work independently and in unison with others including region and plant personnel as well as other departments and outside contractors

    _Qualifications at the Compliance Specialist:_

    + Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Economics or related discipline is required

    + Minimum 4 years professional work experience required. Experience in Energy Delivery (ED) Transmission/Distribution systems or in general business operations preferred or Associate degree and six (6) years of related experience. In lieu of degree, eight (8) years of related experience is required.

    + Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively convey information to various levels in the organization

    + Knowledge of Energy Delivery work management processes and procedures

    + Familiarity of transmission substation equipment and related attributes

    + Familiarity with CASCADE substation maintenance system

    + Familiarity with CREWS (or Work Management systems)

    + Familiarity with SAP cost collectors (Orders, WBS and Cost Centers)

    + Ability to work cooperatively with others and to provide excellent customer service, as well as work independently

    + Ability to manage a dynamic work environment with travel periodically between multiple local work locations and occasional overnight stay required

    + Established relationships with internal customers a plus.

    _Qualifications at the Advance Compliance Specialist level include all of the above plus:_

    + Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Economics or related discipline is required

    + Minimum seven (7) years of related experience or Associate degree and nine (9) years of related experience. In lieu of degree, 11 years of related experience is required.

    + Experience in coaching other team members and providing guidance and direction.

    + Ability to complete complex or difficult assignments with minimal assistance or direction.
