    Position Summary

    The Facility Maintenance/Groundskeeper performs routine and an extensive range of work in the repair and general maintenance of Tapestry Charter School's facilities and buildings. This position is also responsible for maintaining the beautiful spaces that make Tapestry aesthetically appealing - this includes maintaining the lawns, trees, shrubs, and flower beds.

     

    The purpose of the position is to sustain a preventive maintenance program; resolve immediate operational and/or safety concerns; and secure a safe operating environment for staff, students, and visitors.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    + Maintain and make repairs on property located throughout the school and school campus.

    + Uses hand tools of various trades in performing the tasks.

    + Performs snow removal as necessary, including plowing, snow blowing, shoveling, and salting.

    + Assembles furniture and equipment for the purpose of providing items in working conditions.

    + Assists in development and maintains a checklist of scheduled maintenance on all Tapestry Charter School buildings and property.

    + Maintains an inventory of needed materials and parts to provide prompt service to all maintenance at school sites.

    + Requests technical assistance as needed.

    + Keeps updated on required safety and fire codes; and laws governing the construction and repair of buildings.

    + Performs maintenance tasks at a high level of competency.

    + Completes tasks in a timely manner.

    + Update the digital task list at the end of each repair assignment.

    + Coordinates with administration for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.

    + Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

    Additional Duties

    + Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the workplace.

     

    Skills and Abilities

     

    Any combination of education, training, and experience, which demonstrates an ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience in one or more of the building trades. Knowledge of methods used in maintenance including basic knowledge of the following trades; carpentry, plumbing, glass replacement, painting, masonry, groundskeeping, appliance repair, and electrical wiring; standard practices and tools used in the maintenance and repair of building facilities; safety practices and procedures related to the building trades; basic math skills.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move more than 50 lbs.
