The Student Athletics Trainer reports to the Director of Athletics. Baruch College is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III, regional Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) and local City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC). The Athletic Department strive to produce championship teams, while helping to enhance the experience of the student-athlete to become a better leader in the future. The Student Athletic Trainer is a key member of Baruch ‘s intercollegiate athletic staff who provides care, treatment and rehabilitation of all athletic injuries and coordinates and manages the care of student-athletes. The Student Athletic Trainer participates in the planning, organization and execution of a sports medicine program for the care and prevention s of athletic injuries.
Responsibilities for this position include:
+ Ensure compliance with the bylaws of the NCAA, NATA, CUNYAC and all applicable College and University policies, rules, and regulations.
+ Manage and provide all athletic training, medical coverage, emergency treatment for all varsity teams encompassing games, practices and related sports events.
+ Evaluate the severity of an injury sustained during athletic activity and provide appropriate referrals to physicians or their healthcare providers.
+ Maintain and prepare accurate medical records and reports of treatment and injuries as required by NCAA, HIPAA, NATA guidelines.
+ Under the supervision of a physician, provide rehabilitation protocols and therapeutic treatments and injured student-athletes both non-surgical and post-surgical, using appropriate modalities.
+ Serves as the primary liaison with Team Physician, medical specials, Student Health Services, and insurance carriers.
+ Coordinates and collects the pre-season physical examinations and pertinent medical information to determine the ability of the student athletes to be medically cleared to participate in intercollegiate athletics in conjunction with the Assistant Athletics Director of Academics, Compliance and Eligibility.
+ Assist in the planningand implementing of an emergency action plan, risk management and prevention program for the student-athletes and the Athletics and Recreation Center.
+ Travels as needed with varsity teams, both locally and out of state with a varied work scheduled which may include early mornings, weekends, evenings.
+ Manages the athletic training budget and oversees the inventory and maintenance of athletic training room supplies and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required as well as National Athletic Trainers Association certification.
Preferred qualifications include:
+ Master's Degree in Athletic Training
+ 4 years of athletics experience preferred.
+ NYS Licensure
+ CPR & AED Certification
+ Proficient with on-line medical records systems and concussion management system (SWAY).
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Develops, coordinates and administers a comprehensive training and sports medicine program for intercollegiate sports and provides related professional and administrative services.
- Develops and maintains a program of preventive physical care for student-athletes; and coordinates physical examination screenings
- Supervises treatment and referral of injuries and interfaces directly with medical personnel in the treatment of such athletes; coordinates rehabilitation programs; may administer related insurance program(s)
- Determines and ensures the acquisition of safety equipment and supplies applicable to each intercollegiate sport
- Supervises maintenance of statistical records of team injuries and medical data
- Assists coaches in planning and instructing physical training programs for athletes.
- Plans and schedules the purchasing of all sports medical program supplies and equipment within allocated budget parameters
- Recruits, instructs, supervises and reviews the performance of training staff
- Performs related duties as assigned.

$79,188 - $90,375; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
