Women and minorities are under-represented in this job category and are encouraged to apply. *Specific Job Information:* The AIS Prevention Coordinator serves within the Fisheries Division under the supervision of the AIS Bureau Chief to assist with management and coordination of the AIS Program. The AIS Prevention Coordinator manages FWP’s Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Program and ensures AIS prevention and watercraft inspection considerations are integrated into statewide fisheries management plans and operations. The AIS Prevention Coordinator is responsible for implementing prevention actions identified in the Montana Aquatic Nuisance Species Management Plan (ANS plan) and determining the direction, priorities and activities for the prevention portion of the AIS program. The FWP AIS Prevention Program is an extensive program that employs over 150 permanent and seasonal staff working on AIS issues state-wide.This position is also responsible for rapid response actions using the Incident Command System for new AIS detections in the state. *Essential Functions (Major Duties or Responsibilities):* Prioritizes and implements prevention related aspects of the Montana ANS Management plan. Develops strategies to maximize effectiveness of prevention portions of the ANS plan to ensure effective and efficient watercraft inspection and prevention activities in Montana. Coordinates implementation prevention related activities of the plan with all interested parties, including state, federal and tribal agencies, conservation organizations and the public. Analyzes effectiveness of prevention portions of the ANS plan and recommends revision of the plan to achieve greater AIS prevention efficacy and efficiency. Responsible for watercraft inspection data evaluation and analysis and reporting. Utilizes this information to write the annual AIS prevention report, which includes a prevention program summary, watercraft inspection season summary, watercraft inspection data analysis and outlines priorities for AIS prevention for the next year. *Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):* The knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position are normally attained through a Masters of Science Degree inBiology, Fish and Wildlife Management,Aquatic Ecology, or closely related field and at least 2 years of job-related experience in a field in or related to Aquatic invasive species management, fish and wildlife management, watercraft inspection management, and staff supervision. Computer software training required, including Excel and MS Word. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
