POSITION VISIONThe primary responsibility of the Wine & Spirits Sales Representative is to effectively manage and develop Wright Beverage Distributing’s wine & spirits portfolio within the market across all channels of trade. The W&S Sales Rep is responsible for; managing brand/portfolio specific objectives, opening new accounts, along with building customer relations. This individual will also execute market plans to increase volume and market share.
QUANTIFIABLE POSITION OBJECTIVES1. Work independently and with sales team to attain wine & spirits sales distribution and volume goals in assigned & targeted accounts2. Accurately track distribution gains and losses in assigned & targeted accounts3. Accurately track promotional activity in assigned & targeted accounts4. Meet or exceed established sales and marketing objectives5. Execute supplier power selling days in-market as designed by management6. Complies with the company’s approved supplier standards 7. Adheres to all annual objectives, sales goals and special assigned tasks8. Execute monthly and seasonal marketing plans9. Assist in executing plans for close out items
QUALITATIVE POSITION OBJECTIVES1. Maintain excellent working relationships with customers and team management 2. Assist management with sales team training 3. Execute personal development initiatives as set forth by management 4. Effectively communicate field-related information (pricing, promotions, brands, notable activity etc.) to Sales Management 5. Plan, coordinate, and attend wine & spirits related promotions, samplings, and special events
PLANNING AND STRATEGY DEVELOPMENTReview and optimize WBD’s Service Policy. Maintain and review account call and service schedules, request changes when appropriate, and work with operations to ensure adherence to WBD’s Service Policy guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIESMARKET EXECUTION1. Perform total sales responsibility for wine & spirits and entire portfolio in assigned accounts: a. Follow prescribed route sequence as defined by management b. Follow the sales call pre-planning and structured call process2. Work with Sales Representatives as directed: a. Assist in securing new W&S placements b. Effectively communicate & coordinate new W&S products, promotions and opportunities with sales representatives3. Coordinate, execute, attend and measure W&S events as prescribed by management4. Build and maintain working sales relationships in key accounts 5. Attend General Sales Meetings a. Participate in presentation of new products & sales training as directed by Sales Management
SUPPLIER RELATIONS1. Work with wine & spirit suppliers in the market a. Target high opportunity accounts b. Execute work-withs as directed by Sales Management2. Maintain an excellent working relationship with wine & spirits supplier reps
ADMINISTRATIVE1. Submit expense reports on timely basis a. Adhere to mileage policies daily2. Conduct pricing surveys in accounts when requested
CUSTOMER SERVICE1. Establish and maintain working relationships with targeted accounts2. Answer and satisfy customer complaints within 24 hours whenever possible3. Provide support in organizing and seeing through successful tasting events4. Maintain organized tasting schedule
NETWORKING & SALES TRAINING1. Attend local, regional W&S events as directed by Sales Management. 2. Train retailers and their employees in the proper methods of selling, serving and pricing
MINIMUM/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
+ Education:
+ Minimum: High School Diploma
+ Preferred: College Degree
+ Certification:
+ Minimum: WSET Level 1 Certification
+ Preferred: WSET Level 2 Certification / Sommelier Certified
+ Skills:
+ Minimum: Strong communication skills including verbal & written. Proficient in Microsoft office applications, especially Power point.
+ Preferred: Superior communication skills. Strong math skills, creative initiative.
+ Experience:
+ Minimum: Three years in beverage industry sales and/or marketing
+ Preferred: Experience in selling Wine & Spirits

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to drive for short or long periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONSMust be comfortable interacting with retail accounts. Exposed to all weather conditions due to amount of travel associated with position. Ability to drive to branch locations on regular basis as required and ability to travel overnight for supplier meetings and conventions.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTSMust hold a valid, clean NYS driver’s license that is acceptable to our insurance carrier. Must be able to sample all craft products (styles, ABV’s, etc.) while practicing/demonstrating responsible drinking habits.
