    As an Equal Opportunity Consultant, you will provide consultation to Department of Human Services (DHS) leadership, managers, and supervisors on compliance with State and agency policy, procedures, and practices related to equal opportunity and Affirmative Action in employment.

    Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

    + Investigate and/or provide alternative dispute resolution of complaints of protected class discrimination or harassment, or protected activity retaliation, by employees or applicants for employment.

    + Provide agency responses to enforcement agency charges, lawsuits, discovery and other legal process, in collaboration with Attorney General’s Office and other DHS divisions (such as DHS Human Resources and DHS General Counsel’s Office).

    + Develop and provide trainings to DHS leadership, managers, supervisors, and staff to create a more welcoming, inclusive and free of unlawful discrimination workplace.

    + Monitor DHS’ Affirmative Action hiring and whether selection and retention activities are conducted in a manner that supports and preserves a diverse workforce.

    + Investigate and/or provide alternative dispute resolution of civil rights complaints in human services delivery.

    Minimum Qualifications

    _**To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month, day and year for each job held.**_

     

    Three (3) years professional experience conducting employment investigations related to Affirmative Action or equal opportunity laws, regulations, and practices; or conducting civil rights investigations related to federal or state civil rights laws, regulations, and practices.

    Experience must demonstrate the following:

    + Training in or experience conducting investigations and performing mediation and/or other forms of dispute resolution.

    + Knowledge of affirmative action, equal opportunity, civil rights, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

    + Establish, organize, and maintain record keeping systems and procedures.

     

    _*Bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational management, law, or related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience._

     

    _**Master’s degree in human resources, organizational management, law, or related field may substitute for two (2) years of experience._

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Juris Doctor (J.D.) or similar law degree from accredited law school.

    + EEO Investigator Certification or/other EEO related certification.

    + Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
