    What You'll Do

     

    Principal Financial Group has an opportunity for a Fixed Income Senior Associate to join our Investment Performance and Analytics Team. In this role, you will perform attribution and analytics function for the fixed income credit and rates strategies, while maintain close relationships with investment teams and client distribution groups.

    Here are a few examples of what you'll do as a member of the team:

    + Act as subject matter expert in fixed income attribution and portfolio analytics, and point of contact for investment teams on attribution models, analysis, and strategic projects.

    + Measure and report fixed income performance attribution, portfolio characteristics, asset modeling and performance related statistics for assigned asset class portfolios; ensure accuracy and reasonableness of output.

    + Ensure accurate and timely distribution of attribution, analytics, and risk stats. Provide support to client service and marketing teams by responding to clients inquires, RFP requests and new business opportunities.

    + Research, and resolve complex performance attribution data anomalies, system issues and/or client inquires.

    + Laise with attribution vendor on new functionality, customized settings, attribution model logic and system features. Develop capabilities in support of new business and operational objectives.

    + Prepare analytical reports and maintain controls in alignment with internal policies and clients’ needs.

    + Collaborate with internal and external partners including senior operations, client services, risk and compliance to support client initiatives and risk management.

    + Engage with technology and data product teams to continually improve existing data flow model and automate manual processes.

    Who You Are

    We are looking for someone with:

    + Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in accounting, finance, economics or business

    + 5+ years professional experience in investment/mutual fund operations or related field

    + Understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, security types, risk statistics, investment performance, characteristics/analytics, and attribution methodologies

    + Proven analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, time management, planning, decision making, relationship building and communication skills

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office specifically Excel – VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros

    Successful candidate will also have the following:

    + Familiarity with Bloomberg, Eagle, and/or Aladdin portfolio management tool

    + Experience with Python and application to data management and reporting

    + Strong desire for continued education, CFA, CIPM, Master's etc.

    + Detailed orientation and ability to prioritize and balance multiple, increasingly sophisticated, tasks and be flexible as business needs change

    + Ability to take initiative, be a self-starter and work independently

     

    Salary Range Information

     

    Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

     

    Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

     

    $81900 - $147600 / year

     

    Time Off Program

     

    Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
