POSITION DETAILS
Brooklyn College is currently accepting applications for the position of Financial Specialist in the Office of the Comptroller. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the Finance Specialist will provide support for the Brooklyn College Non-Tax Levy Entities. The Brooklyn College Auxiliary Enterprises Corporation (BCAEC) is a separately incorporated tax-exempt entity that supports the college by providing non-instructional auxiliary services such as Parking services, Online bookstore and space rentals.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties include but are not limited to:
+ Maintain rental, performance and commission activity and reporting to management.
+ Analyze NTL college account data ensuring banking transactions correspond to CUNYfirst general ledgermodule.
+ Provide detailed review of accounting data and provide explanation to the University for any significantvariances.
+ Train staff in cash management module bank analyst role.
+ Analyze receivables, payables, revenue and expenses and provide detailed reconciliation for BalanceSheet and Income Statement.
+ Analyze Refund of Appropriations and coordinate with Budget Department on reconciliation for returnsto New York State.
+ Ensure compliance to CUNY guidelines and other regulatory requirements such as annual tax filing forOrganizations Exempt from Income Tax, and Quarterly Sales Tax Reporting.
+ Work in conjunction with department staff and independent accountants on an annual basis to ensurerequired deliverables are met in preparation for the issuance of Audited Financial Statements.
+ Prepare entity financial statements, Management Discussion and Analysis, Notes to the FinancialStatements, including comparative tables, etc.
+ Assist with other related tasks as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Advanced knowledge of budgeting, accounting processes, report analysis and report preparation skills.
+ Excel skills and working with complex pivot tables is required.
+ Candidate must possess a strong attention to detail.
+ Experience utilizing CUNYFirst.
+ Knowledge of GAAP, GASB 87, Lease Administration and Asset Management.
+ Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple complex tasks and orprojects.

Coordinates financial matters for a program or department under management direction.
- Maintains financial accounts for income and spending; administers the allocation of funds
- Analyzes spending, income trends and usage to recommend improvements
- Manages the collection of revenue and accounts receivable
- Tracks and maintains financial data to provide fiscal reports to management; produces forecasting projections
- Monitors the financial condition of operating centers to ensure efficient use of resources
- Performs ad hoc reporting and analysis as necessary
- May supervise subordinate staff
- Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$52,267- $68,004; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
