Description
We are seeking a flexible and team-oriented individual to join our team as an Ophthalmic Technician. This position supports the Doheny Eye Centers in Arcadia, Orange County, and Pasadena, providing both technical ophthalmic assistance. As a floater, you will travel between locations as needed to ensure consistent, high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Provide ophthalmic technical support during patient exams and procedures
+ Perform imaging and diagnostic testing as directed by physicians
+ Assist with minor procedure setup and patient preparation
+ Support clinic flow by collaborating with physicians and other technicians
+ Complete administrative tasks as assigned by Clinic Managers
Salary Range: $34.67-45.74 Hourly
_This position is required to travel to multiple UCLA Health location in Pasadena, Arcadia, and Orange County._ Qualifications
Required:
+ Knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology, basic ocular anatomy, basic ocular physiology, basic ocular pharmacology, common diseases of the eye.
+ Knowledge in basic ophthalmic treatments, medical emergencies, and other various ophthalmic clinical protocols.
+ Knowledge of ophthalmic instruments and their corresponding sterilization / high level disinfection techniques.
+ Ability to adapt between multi-specialty services.
+ Ability to be flexible with requests from physicians, managers, and staff.
+ Ability to organize workload, prioritize duties & tasks, with attention to time sensitive items & crucial deadlines to maximize clinic efficiency.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively, while maintaining comfortable and cooperative working relationships with physicians, patients, and peers.
+ Ability to work under pressure and as a team member in a busy ophthalmic setting.
+ Ability to work independently with initiative to work on a self-directed basis, with limited supervision at times.
+ Ability to convey information concisely, clearly, edit, and proofread to ensure grammatically correct and factual correspondence.
+ Knowledge of operating and maintaining ophthalmic equipment and patient testing devices.
+ Maintain any necessary certifications needed for patient care, including but not limited to research certifications and / or any other ophthalmic related trainings, classes, or required programs.
+ Ability to travel to multiple UCLA Health locations.
Preferred:
+ Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or minimum of 2+ years of experience working in the ophthalmic setting with patients and ophthalmic imaging devices.
+ Fluorescein angiography, UBM, Konan, Keratometry, specialty imaging.
+ Multilingual: speaking / reading (Mandarin + Cantonese + Spanish + other).
+ Experience with electronic health records (EHR, EMR, Epic).
