    Job Description

    Process Improvement Manager II-Health System Operations -Corporate-Full-Time Days-Hybrid

     

    The Process Improvement (PI) Manager II leads improvement initiatives coordinated by the Office of Strategic and Business Planning, utilizing a wide range of improvement tools and methodologies that advance Mount Sinai Health System’s continuous improvement culture, especially the Mount Sinai Continuous Improvement Academy. The PI Manager II plans, manages and executes complex improvement initiatives and evaluates the impact of improvement efforts in order to achieve the mission and vision of the health system, effectively utilizing a wide range of project management skills and improvement tools and methodologies.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelors' degree (Masters Preferred)

    + 7-9 years of combined professional experience and/or graduate-level education relevant to healthcare operations, data analysis, strategic planning and process improvement including at least two years of directly managing staff as an operations manager or in a consulting model

    + Certification and/or working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies

    General Skills and Competencies

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills

    + Strong analytical and trouble-shooting skills

    + Project management experience with an emphasis on process improvement, change management, or implementation of customer/ patient centered processes

    + Willingness and proven ability to quickly learn new skills and acquire knowledge in order to perform job effectively

    + Ability to work independently or as part of a team

    + Excellent follow-through skills, self-motivated and detail-oriented

    + Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects, issues, and priorities effectively and simultaneously with great attention to detail

    Responsibilities

    Program Management:

    + Contributes to Mount Sinai Continuous Improvement Academy (MSCIA) development and growth through content creation and edits, ongoing program management, and live class production. Utilizes online learning platform PEAK to effectively schedule and administer live classroom programs

    + Serves as facilitator for MSCIA upper level courses. Harnessescontent knowledge and teaching techniques in order to effectively facilitate classes for all levels of the organization. Provides peer feedback and support for other facilitators

    + Develops and updates Standard Work and Operating Procedures for all aspects of MSCIA courses. Manages programmatic inputs of junior staff

    + Coaches and advises improvement initiatives through all project phases; able to effectively manage coaching of multiple concurrent projects. Collaborates with stakeholders to develop and test hypotheses related to scope of analysis

    + Designs presentations that illustrate improvement concepts and descriptions of operations, using PowerPoint. Skilled at providing guidance to colleagues in the development of clear and effective presentations

    + Develops other programs, special courses, kaizen sessions, and daily management activities as needed for implementation across the health system.

    Process Improvement and Data Analysis:

    + Develops scope and plan for improvement initiatives, acquiring stakeholder buy-in and leadership support, and establishing metrics and milestones; Utilizes expertise in improvement methodologies to appropriately identify the correct design and approach for initiatives, can communicate approach to outside stakeholders unfamiliar with improvement tools and methodologies

    + Uses project management skills to: develop project plan and timeline for improvement projects; effectively track deliverables and delegate tasks; coordinate project summary presentations; and maintain oversight of all project related tasks necessary for project success

    + Plans and executes data analysis to support leadership decision making in a variety of subject matter areas, including: process measures and performance metrics, quality measures, patient satisfaction measures, and demographic data

    + Effectively collaborates with stakeholders of all levels of staff, developing trusting working relationships with leadership, physicians, administration, and front line personnel. Considers context when presenting findings and recommendations

    Internal Development:

    + Supports the professional development of junior staff, through constructive feedback on project deliverables and as a role model in all project activities, in leadership or supporting roles; actively identifies opportunities to informally mentor department staff

    + Maintains current knowledge of trends and evidence-based solutions for improving healthcare delivery and efficient operations

    + Drives continuous improvement within the department, contributing to the development of improved tools, project methods and internal knowledge base, and project evaluation

    + Performs other duties as required

    Compensation Statement

    Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $87692 - $127000 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
